Daylilies to start with!

I've started about 500 hybridized Daylilies in my basement about 3 weeks ago and they are coming along great. I started approx. 150 Purple Cone Flowers today and I'm hoping these will do alright. I've never done these before but I've got the room and the lighting so I figured I'd might as well give it a try. I'm not sure what I"m gonna do for the veggies yet. Last year I over did it and ended up getting a little burnt out threw the summer on the veggies. I'd much rather do flowers and I figure on expanding and even doing some cuttings later this summer and seeing what kind of market there is for that.

I spoke with a friend that works at a local factory, and asked if I might be able to get a half dozen, or so, of their used wooded crates, or if he could set me up with a contact who could. He said he'd check. I like a garden that I don't have to kneel down to tend.
If they materialize for me, I'll be planting tomatoes, peppers, onions, maybe some Brussels sprouts. All good vegetables.

Did you take this picture? (just wondering if you found it on the web so you could show us what the flower looks like) By the looks of the purple flowers in the back ground this is more like a mid summer, early fall pic. This is a picture of morning glories and I did not think they bloomed this early in the year.

I have many vines of these that grow over the summer and come back each year. Yet I don't think mine will bloom until much later? They actually do their very best in the fall. Unless these are wild morning glories but I don't think these even bloom this early and usually they are smaller and white.

There are little purple flowers out right now but can't think of the name of them, but they are much smaller than morning glories.

This is interesting since I love morning glories. If you did take this picture right now than I would love to know what type of morning glory this is so I can have some early bloomers too.

just wondering.

this is in the rain, if you look closely you can see a rain drop above the flower...as I said before they do come in different colors, white, purple, blue, even red and maybe yellow? Some have the darker color like mine in the middle like stripes, some do not. I love morning glories since they come in so many choices, grow fast, and produce a bunch of flowers. The best thing to do is plant them with moon flowers so you can have flowers in the morning and cloudy days, as will as later in the evening.

Wow! I walked my yard today and could not get over the flowers and leaves that are popping out everywhere! All in like one day's time.

I found a small purple flower that I think is from the creeping charlie we are trying to get rid of in our grass. I did not realize it flowered in the spring. Here's what it looks like:

If anyone knows how to get rid of this plant out of the yard please let me know! I think we are at the point of scraping all the ground up, putting in new dirt and planting all new grass again. This is a really invasive plant that comes out in the Spring and chokes out the grass.

Pretty little spring flowers though...

(Carol, this isn't what you have in your yard is it? Kinda looks like a mini morning glory now that I really look at it) :?

Nope, that is my picture I took with my digital camera.....some flower out on my hill. I get all sorts of neat things here once they start to grow and bloom. I have to get more pics of all these flowers.
I noticed yesterday I have something fluffy and purple on the hill as well.

Beautiful!! I have to walk my trails the next few days and see what has bloomed since Saturday. The baby coons have been keeping me real busy and house bond. I just switch their formula to Fox Valley as of last night and this morning they are still sleeping!!!

Hi Surf,
How did all the daylillies do for you? They are my favorite flower. Did you do your own hybridizing? What resulted? Please post some pictures so we can all see, ok.

Even tho I love the Fall and all the rustic colors I still totally enjoy Spring Flowers and the fresh new beginning they bring as new life starts all over again.
