PC Decrapifier - get the junk off of your computer...

Walter Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal wrote about this recently.

The trialware you get with a new PC clutters your desktop, mostly with junk you'll never use. A lot of people call these craplets.

http://pcdecrapifier.com/ has a free tool to remove a lot of this junk.

Regards,
Keith

Do you know of any free good programs that you can use to figure out what should and shouldn't be in the task manager? Thanks

If you mean the taskbar, that's up to you depending on how much access you want. I keep about 9 items in my taskbar next to the start menu: my browser, email, "show desktop", media player, iTunes, instant messenger, etc.

Try to keep the number of items down in the System Tray, generally to the right of the task bar. This must include your anti-virus because these are items that load at startup.

Regards,
Keith

Everyone should check out this info. I will give it an indepth look in the near future even though my computer is three years old, I bet there are still things on it which could be removed. Thanks for the info.

gee and I always thought that pc was an acronym for Piled Crap, therefore if you decrapified a pc what would be left?

I say we should all go back to pencil and paper and post on a cork bulletin board or telephone pole. And that bulletin board or telephone pole should be centrally located in East Central Wisconsin. My latest posting will be on the South East corner of third amd Racine in Menasha.
see ya there sometime.

Hey, that PCDecrapifier site is running on Drupal.

Keith - Task manager is what tells you all the processes running on your system.
