You know, this may seem silly but people have a problem with asking about credentials when it should be perfectly ok to ask a doctor or lawyer if they had good grades in school.. seriously. Somebody had to graduate bottom of the class and you don't want that guy/gal to handle your lawsuit or open heart surgery.

We can extrapolate this right down to the neighborhood auto mechanic if you want to. Some times there are things you shouldn't take for granted.

OK, came back and looked at that a couple of times and it still eludes me...

Anyhow, having a bad lawyer would be akin to getting a bad cop on your case - tough to make anything positive out of it.

I actually wanted to be a lawyer once, but I was concerned I'd lose all my friends
