NEW ORLEANS - In the neighborhood President Bush visited right after Hurricane Katrina, the U.S. government gave $84.5 million to more than 10,000 households. But census figures show fewer than 8,000 homes existed there at the time.

Now the government wants back a lot of the money it disbursed across the region.

Several "victims" of Katrina that were given their $2,000 debit cards (via fraudulent means) showed up around here ordering expensive food and wine at a couple places on the beach. Pretty easy to figure out who they are.....and to think they were being served by a person that is/was living in a trailer STILL after Hurricane Ivan because many in this area still have not received help.

There were so many left out due to the magnitude of Katrina.....ask the folks in lower MS., no one ever hears about them because it's not as "big of a story". They were the ones who actually got the brunt of the storm.

Shame on those people who took advantage of the "system".
