Re: 2007 Packer season Turkey Day
As our family and friends gather for a Thanksgiving feast
and we share in the joy, drink and eat
let's bow our heads for moment of reflection.
May we all enjoy the day
because Captian Farve-lous made all the plays
and the men from Green Bay win in a big way
May all the Turkeys of the day be rested on a platter
and not suited up as Packers
And may those Cowboys from the South and Patrioits from East
win no more games this season to say in the least
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 2007 Packer season
Green Bay Packers 37
Detroit Lions 26
Another fine showing by the Green and Gold. Their 37-26 victory over the Detroit Lions puts them on top of the NFC North Division, with a 10-1 record, and a 4 game lead on their closest opponents. At this point, their closest rivals are the team they just beat, The Detroit Lions with a 6-5-0 record.
Quarterback Brett Favre went on to set more records. 20 consecutive pass completions. He tied one of his own records set during the '95 season with his seventh 300+ yd. game.
The first down of the first possession of the first quarter resulted in a turnover, as Brett Favre tripped over one of his lineman, and fumbled the hand-off. Detroit recovered on the 25 of Green Bay, but was denied the end zone, settling for a field goal.
Green Bay overcame a first quarter 6-0 deficit and led by a score of 34-12 early in the fourth quarter.
Just when Detroit looked as if it was going to be routed for the fourth straight time in its marquee game, Jon Kitna connected with Calvin Johnson in the end zone and Kevin Jones scored to pull the Lions within eight.
The accurate passing by Brett Favre, and the expedious running of Ryan Grant halped manage the clock for the Packers, to bring on Kicker Mason Crosby for his third field goal of the game, and the inserting of the proverbial dagger.
Thursday, the 29th of November will find the Packers in Dallas, taking on the NFC East divisional leaders, the Dallas Cowboys. At the time of this chronicle, the Cowboys hold a record of 9-1-0.
I hope to see alot of the theBubbler members (great to see them all!) in the chat room for the game at 7:15 pm.

Re: 2007 Packer season
Great game! Got a little tense towards the end, but the Pack rose to the occasion once again!
Great game, great chat, great re-cap.

Re: 2007 Packer season
Well, The Packers lost one...actually, 2. A 10-2 record is still pretty dog gone good. Consider the starting QB was out for more than half the game. Key defensive personnel were also out for the entire contest.
Back-up Quarterback Aaron Rodgers proved his effectiveness in the second half, as he threw his first career touchdown to WR Greg Jennings. Rodgers brought the score to within 3 in the 3rd quarter.
Sum the game up, bad calls by the refferees, a well oiled Dallas machine, and irreversible mistakes by the Green Bay team led to a dismal defeat, and reality check for the Pack.
Final score; Green Bay Packers 27, Dallas Cowboys 37

Re: 2007 Packer season
The only thing I would add to the Dallas comments is this: I was disappointed at how we changed our offensive scheme. Seemed like we were trying to go deep too many times. It's good to do it to stretch out the defense, but not when we're covered well and the rush is on.
Oh well, the boys are still doing well and are playoff bound. Maybe we'll meet the 'boys again in a couple months.

Re: 2007 Packer season
Another Division Championship for The Green Bay Packers. The first since 2004.
A smartly administered whompin' by The Packers to the Oakland Raiders in the 38-7 decision propelled the 11-2 NFC North aces to clinch the NFC North Division.
Quarterback Brett Favre didn't let his injured elbow from the previous game effect his performance as he threw 15-23 for 266 yds. He completed passes to Gregg Jennings and Donald Lee for touchdowns in the second half. Special teams scored two touchdowns in the form of Will Blackmon who was substituting for injured Charles Woodson.
The Packers play host to the St. Louis Rams at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Game time is noon CST and can be seen on your local Fox TV Affiliate, or you can join Larry McCarren and Wayne Larrivee with the play-by-play and expert Color Commentary on The Packers Radio Network.

Re: 2007 Packer season
Green Bay Packers 33, St. Louis Rams 14
Packers clinched the first round bye in the NFC play-offs on Sunday, with their victory over The St. Louis Rams.
A real possibility for The Packers is a first no. 1 seed, and a home field advantage throughout the play-offs. This is contingent on various factors. Green Bay has to win their remaining two games over Chicago and Detroit and have either Carolina or Washington beat Dallas in the next two weeks.
The Packers must finish ahead of the Cowboys to get the top seed, because Dallas beat Green Bay back on Nov. 29. If the two teams finish tied, the Cowboys would have the tiebreaker and would host the NFC Championship should they get there.
The Packers certainly didn't rest on Sunday, as Brett Favre became the NFL's all-time leader in passing yardage and his team dominated the second half with a 16-0 shutout. Favre threw a 7 yard pass to WR Donald Driver for the record. Favre has thrown over 34 miles worth of yards.
While the Packers finished the game with a 19-point victory the game was alot closer than the score lead you to believe as Green Bay held a slim 17-14 advantage at the half. Green Bay's defense took over in the second half and kept the Rams off the board while Crosby kicked 3 field goals and Favre had a 44-yard touchdown pass to Cullen Jenkins for all the scoring.
Sunday the 23 of December will have the Packers traveling to Soldier Field in Chicago where they will play long-time foes The Chicago Bears.
The game can be seen on your local Fox television affiliate at 12 noon, and with expert play-by-play call by Wayne Larrivee and color commentary by former Packer great Larry McCarren on the Packer Radio Network.

Re: 2007 Packer season
BAD MOJO...or something
The ball was made of ice...or, The air was too thick with frost...or, it was just a crappy showing by the Pack this past Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field in Chicago.
No doubt, the Bears dominated the first quarter. Their first drive ate up over 10 minutes. The result was a field goal. Gotta give the Packers Defense credit for holding their opponents to only 3 points.
From there on, things only got worse. Receivers couldn't catch, kickers did a great job at shanking the ball, and the Green and Gold was having difficulty throwing.
Preparation for this game was poor to say the least. All week, the weather reports said it was going to be colder than a witches *** in the Klondike, but our boys decided it would be fine to practice inside the heated Hudson Center. The Kickers and punters did however practice outside, still to no avail.
The Packers can give up on any idea that the No.1 NFL seed...that goes to the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers are locked in at the No.2 seed. All hope for home field advantage were struck down. A final score of 35-7 was a good enough reason for Quarterback Brett Favre to feel frustration on his team's loss to the Monsters of the Midway, aka The Chicago Bears.
Green Bay's Ryan Grant ran for 100 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, but with the gametime temperature at 16 degrees and a gusty wind, the Packers never got going.
The Green Bay Packers will host the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field on Sunday at noon CST. The final regular season game of the year.
Tune in to watch the game on your local Fox Television affiliate. Radio programming can be found on The Packers Radio Network with expert play-by-play commentary by Wayne Larrivee and professional color commentary by former Packer Great Larry McCarren.
