Did you know.....
I got the idea of adding a did you know section on theBubbler. It will include facts and little known facts about Wisconsin.
Here is the first thing I want to add.
Did you know there used to be two places in Wisconsin called Neshoto (Neshotah)?
Neshotah is an Algonquian Native American word for "twins".
In Manitowoc County, there are twin rivers (East Twin and the West Twin) that come very close together in the town of Two Rivers, about eight miles above the mouth of the rivers. This area was named Neshoto.
In Waukesha County, there are two small lakes lying north of Nemahbin lake, near the east line of the town of Summit. The north lake is two hundred and ninety one feet above Lake Michigan, sixty-seven chains long, thirty-one wide, and has a periphery of two miles. The south lake is seventy-five chains long, twenty-seven wide, and has a periphery of two miles and a quarter. From Increase Lapham's 1844 Geographical and Topographical Description of Wisconsin. This area was named Neshotah.
During the railroad era, it was discouraged to have two towns on the same railroad line by the same or similar name. To encourage the railroad to come through their village the residents of the Manitowoc County Neshoto changed their name to Shoto.

Wisconsin is one of the top-ranking states in canned and processed vegetables, and is known as the “Beer Capital of the United States.”

Are you sure that is not that we consume the most vegetables?

One of the world's most famous pianists, Liberace, was born in West Allis and
raised in Milwaukee area. During the Polish Fest this past summer in Milwaukee they had a very nice display for everyone to view on his life.

Re: Did you know.....
Since we visited the Door County area 2 summers ago and traveled the entire area, I found it interesting to read that Door County has more shoreline than any other in the U.S. - over 250 miles.
(I personally found Door County very beautiful but felt the shore line was way to rocky and in some places had a strong smell. Kenosha has a much more beautiful sandy beach to walk on.)
