If you are a charter captain or work on a charter boat, or have been out on a charter boat fishing the big lakes, please feel free to post your information here.
They let the Browns go in the river today, 3-1-06, there were over 15,000 in very good health and they also dump sevral thousand coho's in the Manitowoc river today. looking forward to those fish in the up coming years and looking forward to catching some of the past plants this season.
Just came back from another Lake erie trip. We always have a great time and catch a bunch of fish. This year we once again chartered with Captain Randy Raughbedough out of Port Clinton, Ohio. We actually stayed in Put in Bay on South Bass Island and the captain picked us up there each morning. We had two days of charters and caught 72 walleyes. You can see one of the fish that my father caught by checking my profile. If anyone would like additional info about where to stay or how to contact the captain, I have been going there for over 20 years and have learned a lot about the area.
if you are interested in walleyes, the area from Marinette to Cedar River has been pretty good. i went out from Marinette and trolled about two miles out of the Menominee River. We caught 15 walleyes in one night (biggest 28" smallest 18"). we used lead core line and planner boards. The best place to stay if you are going to fish here is at the cabins at J.P. Wells state park in Michigan. the park has primitive cabins for rent with gas stoves and no electricity or running water. it is pretty primative, but it is relaxing and the cabins are right on the lake.
Went out from 5 till 10:30 and ended up 5 for 6. Lost a monster 30 feet from boat. 4 kings 1 laker. All fish caught in 80-90 fow on green fly. Water temp was 53 degrees. Water was pretty calm with a small chop coming around 10:00. Biggest king was 17 pounds and laker went 7 pounds.

Keith, that was an entry i made but had forgot to log on...my bad
Went out Friday night. Not sure of all the lingo but we were in 105 fow went 10 for 12 or so (we could have limited easliy)everything was a double and boarder line triples we had all seven lines in the boat at one point CRAZY!!!All kings, even had one at the end grab a fly and took everything before we could even get to the pole musta been a monster so if you catch one with a fly and a flasher you know whose it is
Went down to jones island saturday fished from 6am-1pm nothing hitting spawn sacs so i started casting Kastmasters and caught 1 male and 1 female brown from5-8 pounds.Fishing down there is only going to get better.
Went out this morning was not ideal conditions but tried it anyways and caught 1 small but fat brown on a shiner.Fishing at Jones has been slow so far this year. Will try again tomorrow.
Went down again this morning fished there from about 6:30 till about noon had one on and lost it on a shiner and had a couple other hits but NO fish landed. Then went over by the sailing center fished there shiners, sacs, cranks and no takers there either.Fishing by Jones very slow so far this year....we were killing them by this time last year..water was dirty yesterday but was a bit cleaner today.Try again Sunday.
Went down to Jones today tried spawn sacs, shiners, cleos, cranks,Kastmasters, and just about everything else i had and had 1 fish bump a crank twice but other than that NODDA,NOTHING.Dont know but everytime i go down there its been dead this year just a few here and there.
Fished the river from 7am-2pm tried cranks, spawn sacs, shiners, spoons, plastics and only managed 2 small browns had a few follow ups and a few bumps otherwise.Seen about 5-6 other fish caught all browns.
If this weather stays the way its been it wont be long before we can get out fishing for salmon. Hope it does at least because I am tired of this cold already
If anyone would like to have a fishing partner this year off the piers for salmon let me know...or if you would like someone to fish with you on inland waters I am all for that as well. Sometimes its nice to fish solo but other times it can be quite boring.
Your only going to have to wait until about march for the coho's to move in close enough to fish them from the peirs. But you know you can fish for the browns and the rainbows now...... some days can be very good this time of year.I do fish the peirs for the kings when there in but also do some trolling for them as well.If you want someone to fish with once and a while give me a hollar i will meet you down there. It does get boring fishing by yourself sometimes.Picture of last fish i caught fishing for browns last saturday cant believe it hit a shiner.
I've been thinking about going out and giving it a try of the kenosha piers, for some reason noone ever fishes the open water this time of year here. its eather through the ice or not at all. i think i should at least be able to get a lawyer or something.
oh yeah, i would be interested in coming up there and do some fishing on a weekend or something. i don't get out enough. i really need to do much more fishing this year.

Went out yesterday to do some trolling...water was very dirty from all the run-off so we went to deeper water were it was cleaner but not as many fish out there. We managed 2 lakers...then we headed into the river and found 1 brown and 1 walleye there. Was a very slow day hope for some west winds and no more rain to clean up the harbor.Dont mind the dates recharged the batteries in camera and never reset them
Went out Sunday to Lake Michigan with some friends...we had to fight our way through the ice to get to the spot but man was it worth it....we ended up with 71 fish all browns and rainbows and a couple mooneyes...spawn sacs, jiggin rapalas,Berkley Gulps all worked,we had doubles, triples and almost quads cant beat that day on the water. All fish released but 2.
Went out last tonight from about 8:30-11 pm we caught about 9-10 which wasnt all that bad considering the temps and the very choppy waters tonight....spawn sacs and gulps worked.
Went out this morning river was wide open when i got there but ice moved in quickly and filled up the river so using sacs or shiners was out of the question. It left you a few spots on and off all morning where you could cast a crank or spoon in briefly but the fish were not hitting either of those this morning but they were present.Switched up to a white and sparkle 5 inch Zoom bait and weighted jig head and that was the answer.Caught 5 and missed a few and had some follow-ups all together i must have seen 25 fish caught this morning most of all looked to be on some kind of plastic. If it had not been for the ice probably would have HAMMERED them this morning!!!!!!!
Went out this morning at 5am with some buddies to do some fishing and to take the boat out for the first time and the first part of the day was pretty rough...tons of boats and few fish and the ideal spots were already taken and was windy and rough out.Caught nothing the first part of the day but then went up river back to the bruce street area and lets just say i wish i had some corn....the carp are everywhere..i also seen a guy with a nice walleye along the way but no fish caught there either... so we went back to the first spot and this time there was a little room to fish we ended up catching 5 bows and 1 brown lost a few and had some follow-ups.Oh yeah and i boke a rod.
