any ideas on making a portable livewell?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out a way to make a portable livewell for shore fishing that is also collapsible. The reason why I need it to be collapsible is because it will be traveling in a car trunk most of the time. Well if anyone has any brainstorms I'd really appreciate hearing your ideas.

America, ain't it great...

Hmmm, first thing that comes to mind is a harness to hold up chest waders filled with fish.

Second thing is the cooler you already have for sandwiches and drinks and to sit on.

Third is a stringer with the lake or river as a live well.

Now, the American way would be to manufacture a longer, narrower cooler for sandwiches and drinks to convert to a live well.

Interesting question. Good luck - and let us know if you come up with something.

Regards,
Keith

Hi Keith,

It's funny because I've had the same exact thoughts on this lol. I do use a stringer quite a bit, but depending on where I'm fishing sometimes it's just easier to have the fish up on shore due to boat traffic and others fishing near by.

So far I've thought about using those collapsible clear water containers, but I can't find any long enough that would be suitable for larger fish. Then for a frame I'd just take and cut up some spare fiberglass tent poles and use a bunch of "T" connectors. For the aerator I'd use a battery powered one that they sell for bait buckets.

Just for the hell of it I may make a prototype with a collapsible 5 gallon container to see how that works. It won't be good for holding much but a few pan fish, but I'll get an idea as to how the larger version will work.
