can anyone tell me if there are any places around madison to fish for flatheads.

Various fishing clubs will have reports posted on their websites. The Department of Natural Resources website is also a good place to look. As for the actual place to go to catch a particular fish species, I only care about perch, walleye, and fish like that there.

I have never heard of flatheads as being a Wisconsin fish. Maybe on the Missisippi river. But as far as around Madison, your out of luck... We do have a pretty good population of Channel cats in the Rock river system in Jefforson County about 30 minutes East of Madison. I have found the best action for them around Watertown below the dams.

Been catching some flatheads in the lake at Pardeeville. Not very big ones though, but I figure they are in there too.

Also caught a few in the creek (Duck Creek??) that goes under 22 at Wyocena. But since the water level has been up, only been catching bluegills and a few small bass. My son caught a 2 inch long large mouth on his little Spiderman pole just this week.
