Tink will be ready for her new home on 2/11 when she is 12 weeks old. We will not allow Tink to go to her new home until then for the reason that she needs to learn her social skills from mommy from 8 weeks old to 12 weeks old in order to become a wonderful part of your family without the issues that arise from taking a puppy from mommy too soon like biting. She would be the perfect companion to play with...fun is what she is!

I came across this story a few weeks ago and can't get it out of my...

I came across this story a few weeks ago and can't get it out of my mind. A pitbull was nearly starved to death and hours away from death when he was found in a trash chute. He survived the fall of being sent down the chute from 19 stories. March 16, 2010 was his lucky day when the man that always empties the trash found Patrick in a trash bag. The skin and bones dog was so weak he could hardly move.

He weighed only 15 pounds when he was found. He now weighs 55 pounds and looks healthy. His body temperature was so low that it wouldn't register on the thermometer. He was given a blood transfusion and put on an IV. He was wrapped in heating pads and blankets as one of the vet assistants held him on her lap to warm and soothe him. They didn't think he would make it the first 24 hours, but he did. He was named Patrick because of St. Patrick's Day and he was sure one lucky dog to fight death to make a comeback.

He was given food in small amounts because that was all his stomach could handle, plus they had to remove a hairball from a wig out of his stomach first. The dog probably ate that because food wasn't available.

Patrick lost a lot of muscle while he was starved to death. This required exercise and therapy to bring strength back to his muscles. He was the worst case of animal abuse that the vet hospital had ever seen. The woman who neglected him is still being charged with animal abuse. The sad thing is that his situation isn't unique. People that treat pets like this deserve to be treated the same way as punishment.

Today he is a happy and healthy dog that loves to sit on laps. He sleeps with the family cat on the bed of the vet who saved him. He is shy around strangers, but can be bribed with a couple of dog treats.

Hello everyone. I am Ryan Radosta, a farrier of 14 years and live in Germantown. I have read a couple posts on this site complaining about the lack of farriers in Wisconsin so I thought I would write a short post and tell a little about myself.I was taught to shoe horses by Red Renchin. I apprenticed with him for 5 years before going out on my own. I due my best to be on time or at the very least call if I am running behind or ahead. Also, I pride myself in being courteous to horses and their owners, as well as providing a quality service. Currently I am accepting new clients. I work in Washington, Waukesha, and Ozaukee Counties. Please contact me if you or someone you know is in need of a FARRIER. Thanks for looking.
You would think it might be New York with its dreamy skyscrapers.
Or how about a quaint village on the California coast when couples can escape it all.
No, the most romantic place in the whole of the United States is apparently the city of La Crosse in Wisconsin.

Interesting to see how much we owe and to whom we owe it too. . .

As the U.S. government spends an unprecedented amount of money to fix the economy, there is an equally great need to raise the cash to pay for it. This is accomplished through borrowing, whereby Uncle Sam sells Treasury securities of varying maturity.

For investors, government bills, notes and bonds are considered safe because they have a guaranteed rate of return, based on faith in future U.S. tax revenues. The government has been partially funding operations via Treasury securities for decades.

This borrowing adds to the national debt, which has recently surpassed $15 trillion and is rising every second. The amount of debt is quickly approaching the federal debt ceiling, a legal limit to borrowing that currently stands at $16.4 trillion.

Much of that debt is held by private sector, but about 40 percent is held by public entities, including parts of the government. Here's who owns the most. Foreign countries listed include private and public investors, according to monthly U.S. Treasury data.
Zillow has some major flaws too like thinking the empty lots on my street are homes and appraising my neighbor's house 200K less then their resent real appraisal. Never the less, this is your lender's first impression.

Say What?

ZUMBA!!!!

What is Zumba?

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin music and easy-to-follow dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training, alternating fast and slow rhythms and resistance training.

Some research indicates that dance-type aerobic workouts like Zumba can improve cardiopulmonary endurance when done at moderate intensity and duration. The bottom line is if you enjoy Zumba, you're more likely to stick with it — and more likely to enjoy the benefits of aerobic exercise.

Last Saturday we were driving home when a goose was spotted in an "odd" area and not acting "normal".

There was no open water in the area, and no reason this goose should be where I spotted it.

Went home for gear, since it was obvious this goose was in need of help.

Came back, followed the prints in the snow and it was clear the wing was dragging a bit and this goose could not fly. :(

Took only about 10 minutes before the goose was located hiding in a open corn field.

It was extremely easy to catch bare handed and once caught easily carried back to vehicle.

Got the goose home...I'm not set up for geese. My main focus is raccoons.

Call my rehab friend as she is also a CVT. :)

She can't come until the following day to check out the goose.

In a large skillet over medium high heat cook the bacon pieces until...

In a large skillet over medium high heat cook the bacon pieces until the begin to crisp at the edges but are still soft in the center, about 1 – 1 1/2 minutes per side. Set aside to drain. Pour all but one tablespoon of the bacon drippings from the pan.

Lower the heat to medium-low and add the onion and brown sugar. Cook until the onions are well caramelized, about twenty minutes. Add the garlic and spices and cook an additional five minutes.

Add the liquid ingredients and the bacon to the pan. Increase the heat to medium heat bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about two hours. Check the mixture every 30 minutes. If the mixture becomes too dry add a few tablespoons of water. You want the final mixture to be moist and very sticky.

Let the mixture cool slightly them put it into the bowl of a food processor, or blender, and pulse about 20 times, or until it reaches your preferred consistency. (I prefer mine slightly chunky so you really notice the bacon)

Enjoy, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Did some work at the corner of Mitchell and Muskego in Milwaukee...

Did some work at the corner of Mitchell and Muskego in Milwaukee Friday and I had some damn good tacos. I'm not one to normally eat out of a roach coach, or lunch wagon if you prefer but this was different. Between watching all those food network shows with the wife, the constant flow of customers and the amazing smell of steak I couldn't resist. I had 4 tacos and they were great! I had 2 steak and 2 pork. They come with peppers and this real mild sauce on the side. They served burritos and a couple other things as well. Pork was my favorite.

The guys on site said that truck has been there religiously every day of the whole project. Shows up around 9 and says long after lunch. Telling from the local traffic this is their regular spot. Their web site show 1 resturant and 3 of these food trucks.

lol, so if you're ever craving street tacos the Taqueria el Cabrito roach coach is sure to please.

Right to it..... Wisconsin is home to most of my favorite beers. My...

Right to it..... Wisconsin is home to most of my favorite beers. My favorite breweries are Sprecher, Capital, Leinenkugel, New Glarus and Stevens Point.

Right now I'm hooked on Point 2012. It's a dark beer..... real dark.
Here's how they describe it:

"Dark rich roasty and complex, Point 2012 Black Ale is hand-crafted with Pale, Munich, and Roasted Malts with Cluster, Saaz, and Cascade hops for the robust flavor and finish".

They can do a better job at explaining then I can but if you like a black Ale, that in my opinion is best served cold, and you're not always up for something with the viscosity of oil this is a good one to try out. Much lighter feeling then any black beer I've enjoyed before. I can't stand Guinness because it's too flat for it's density if that helps as a reference.

Sprecher's Black Bavarian is the same color as Point's 2012 but a bit thicker. Black Bavarian is also another one of my favorites. It's almost like a meal in a glass, with a smooth rich flavor. This one is actually good room temp or cold.
Here's what Sprecher has to say about it:

"This intensely dark Kulmbacher style lager has a superb malt complexity with the distinctive flavors and aromas of coffee, caramel and chocolate. A renowned smoothness and a creamy, tan head make it a world champion".

New Glarus has a lot to offer, staying with dark beers one of my favorites is Fat Squirrel. This is a nut brown ale. This was my gateway beer into the dark side. I was experimenting with micro-brews greatly a few years ago when this one caught me and didn't let go for a long time.
From the New Glarus Brewing website:

"100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to this bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone. When the going gets tough, remember to relax a moment and enjoy the "Fat Squirrel" in your neighborhood."

Summer time I'm all over wheat beers, well good ones at least. My first experiences left me thinking this was a bad road to go down but Capital Brewery's Island Wheat brought me around. Leinenkugel has this segment covered in a couple ways and of course their whole catalog can be brought over to the man cave anytime for enjoyment. I find Leinenkugel commercial enough to almost be a stand by beer. My total stand by reserve is Coors light. I know, a complete different direction but I like it and my buddies that don't dig the micro's will always enjoy one of them with me. I'm not exactly sure how the whole Miller Coors thing turned out but if it's technically WI based I'd have to say that my beer selection would be highly loyal to the region.

I'm always open to new WI brews and we're lucky to have Gooseberrys Fresh Food Market here in Burlington so if you have a suggestion I'm sure they'll have it and I'll certainly go try it.

Area health professionals are bringing a Health and Wellness Bonanza...

Area health professionals are bringing a Health and Wellness Bonanza to the Center for Life Enrichment Thursday, Feb. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Two of Wisconsin's leading wellness doctors will share a bonanza of health and wellness information in an empowering workshop taking place at 1306 W. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc. Featured will be Dr. Tom Potisk, D.C. and Dr. Jerry Zelm, D.C., addressing timely, noteworthy topics including: How to release your body's healing power, ways to enjoy eating without weight gain, the essentials of a good night's sleep, exercises that really work and those to avoid; secrets to eliminate stress and destructive habits, and techniques to avoid the four greatest dangers to your health. Motivational speaker Donna "Kinza" Christensen will offer opening remarks.
Dr. Jerry Zelm has been a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic for 38 years. Before completing his undergraduate training at Milton College and the University of Wisconsin White-Water, Dr. Zelm served in the Army National Guard and trained as a medic. Zelm received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1973. He has served on six short-term mission teams to Jamaica and Poland with the Christian Chiropractor’s Association, bringing healthcare to hundreds of individuals in these countries. The Oconomowoc chiropractor continues to practice in a semi-retired status from his local office.
Dr. Tom Potisk is one of America’s leading natural health care practitioners. He was elected Wisconsin Chiropractor of the Year, has been frequently published, and continues to lecture extensively. His goal is to improve lives by empowering others to make wiser healthcare decisions. He also teaches doctors across the country on how to reclaim joy in their professional practices while providing excellent care to their patients. He, his wife and three children live holistically on a farm in southern Wisconsin. For the general public, Dr. Potisk has written a book titled, Whole Health Healing – The budget-friendly natural wellness Bible for all ages. For doctors he has written, Reclaim The Joy of Practice – An advanced guide for advancing doctors. Both books can be obtained at his website.
The Wellness Wins! program represents over 60 years of health-caring by Drs. Jerry Zelm and Tom Potisk. "Come join us as we share exciting ideas for a healthier, happier life," said Zelm.
Drs. Zelm and Potisk recently co-authored a workplace wellness book called Wellness Wins!, a simple guide to a healthier, happier life. Cost for the workshop is $29, and includes a signed copy of the book. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and food and beverages are available at the adjoining Lake Country Cafe. Seating is limited. For reservations call 262 354-1375.

Oliver's photo still hangs at the Krause Funeral Homes, but he is no longer available to help grieving families.

First a Krause family pet, Oliver ended up working most of his life as a therapy dog.

"I remember one little boy, maybe about 8 years old, who wouldn't talk after a sibling died," funeral director Mark Krause said. "But he talked and talked to Oliver.

"Oliver worked maybe a thousand funerals in his day, maybe more," he said. "What he did was really magical. People in their suits and dresses would get down on the floor to pet him."

Oliver died Dec. 26, just a week after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

On Dec. 21 the mercury pollution saga finally came to an end. The long awaited Environmental Protection Agency regulations were finalized and put into effect. The new Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) are the first ever national limits on mercury and other toxic emissions from power plants. These new regulations will ultimately improve people's health by requiring power plants that contribute to air pollution in Wisconsin to use widely available, proven pollution control technologies. These technologies will help protect families from pollutants such as mercury, arsenic, chromium, nickel and acid gases.
Wisconsin webcam showing processing of Walker recall petitions mesmerizingly boring

Nameless bureaucrats processing petitions to recall the governor shuffle in and out of the frame, stacking, unstacking and scanning seemingly endless piles of paper in a process carried live on an increasingly popular webcam that’s so mind-numbingly boring, it’s mesmerizing.

Welcome to Wisconsin, where even the dullest of political theater attracts tens of thousands of viewers.

Available on YouTube is a video entitled "Taking Our Government Back"; it's from Walker's 2010 gubernatorial campaign. I don't believe the ad was shown on northeast Wisconsin television, but apparently it was in other parts of the state.
In the three-minute ad, Walker explains how he got involved in the recall of Milwaukee County Executive Tom Ament in 2002, and how proud he was of that effort, when ordinary citizens "stood shoulder to shoulder" and "took their government back."
