I'm Keith. From Southeastern Wisconsin, just north of Waukesha and just northwest of Milwaukee.
Our dogs are Riley, a Heinz 57 we rescued from the shelter. One eye gone, losing sight in the other; and Sydney, a purebred Australian Terrier inherited when Grandma passed away. He'll likely be Riley's leader dog one day. I've posted bits about them in my journal on my Member page.
Had great dogs as a kid. Queenie, pure German Shephard. And Eeny, toy Fox Terrier.
While I am currently a cat owner, I was raised with dogs... Rottweilers and German Shepherds, to be exact.
The dog I remember most was our Rottweiler, Champion Srigo's Big Opportunity And How. To us he was "Boah," 150 lbs. of pure marshmallow. Before I was born, my parents showed Boah. As a child, I could ride on his back, pull his ears, wrestle with him and he'd never harm a soul. Boah made appearances at many show-and-tells, delighting 2nd graders half his size. It breaks my heart that Rotts get a bad rap these days.
Czar was our German Shepherd, even more of a sweetheart than Boah. I never saw Czar express any agression. He had ears that stuck out in strange angles. He was a darling.
When we had these dogs, I was under 7 years of age. All I can remember is these dogs loving me and being very protective. I don't think there are "bad breeds," just bad owners who don't properly train their dogs. When I am not a renter, hopefully soon, I hope to have my own big dogs as I did when I was young.
Jim & Shauna again,
We were longtime friends and owners of a very loyal and trustworthy rottweiler. We had to put him down Nov of 04 after a small limp turned into an aggressive cancer. The cyst grew so quickly it was awful. He had never even had a cold. It really was heart wrenching.
My birthday was a week later and we got Murphy a shitzu, well let me tell you that he is addicting. Just recently this year same time of year we adopted a black pekinese named Molly.
So, now we have Murphy and Molly and they are funniest little farm dogs ever!

I agree %100 with you Kris10 ! A few of my buddies had several Rotts and they are only as mean as theyre trained to be. These Rotts were the biggest babies in the world! You could tug on them, wrestle them around and everything...they wouldnt show a single ounze of aggression. Anyhoo....We have a black lab named Magic, 120 pounds of mashed taters. Such a baby too...unless you knock on my door or ring the doorbell....then he turns into the anti-christ. Just over a year old. We got him as just a tiny puppy lasy year on halloween. Have also a mini toy weiner dog named Butter. This dog is something else. She has her own clothes, blanket,bed...you name it. I think we spend more on her for clothes than the kids! She loves to be rocked like a baby too. Both dogs here are both great dogs. Have a shepard/husky mix also that i left with my ex-wife too. All i can say about that dog, named Savoy, is that if you have never been taken into that house but someone that lives there...dont dare enter it alone. It very well could cost you a limb or life. I spent alot of time on Savoy to protect the home and my daughter.
Saddie is my purebred chocolate lab and Robyn is my purebred yellow lab. I love them to pieces! (We also have two cats) Saddie is extremely smart. When I talk to her...I swear she understand every word I say! Robyn...on the other hand...ugh....her previous owner gave her to us a couple of months ago. He didn't have time for her. You can definitely tell too. She is nothing compared to Saddie...but she is getting better. So thats good. It'll just take time.
As for the rotts....we dog sit my brother in laws rott when he's out of town. Loco is the sweetest dog. He got along great with Saddie and they loved to hang out. He got a long great with the cats too!
My name is Larry Mattes. Besides having several birds and a cat, we, my wife and I, have 2 dogs. Tazie came to me by marrage. Tazie is an 8 yr old Brussels Griffon. When Tazie was a pup my wife carried him around in her purse. Tazie also has a leather jacket and would ride along with my wife on a motorcycle. Our second dog is a 12 yr old Golden Retriever named Dexter. We just got Dexter from a Golden Retriever rescue called Waagr. Dexter is a loving and sweet dog who wants to be petted 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day. We were lucky to get him.
There is a picture of Dexter and Tazie in my profile section.
Bud is a shepherd mix, the vet thinks there is some husky in him. I usually just tell people that he is 100lbs. of pure energy. His favorite thing to do is chase tennis balls, and when I won't throw them, he will do it himself. Bud is also an avid TV watcher, his favorites are westerns, he thinks horses are dogs and he always chases them across the screen.
I rescued Bud from the Humane Society. I had always wanted a dog and had just moved out of an apartment into my house, so I was going to finally get my dog, and it was also my birthday. When I seen this big dog, and looked at his paperwork, he was one year old, the date of birth said "end of September" and since my birthday is September 26, I decided that we would get each other for our birthday presents... that was over three years ago.
Hi there, Tracy here. Always been a dog lover, never been without one, or two, or more. Currently only have one a smooth collie/golden retriever mix that is about a year 1/2 old named Ginger.
We used to raise chihuahuas, but with two small toddlers,, little dogs and little babies don't mix, dogs were good with the kids, but the kids tended to be a little rough with them. They now have a good home with someone just east of Beaver Dam.
Horse owner here too, Appaloosas being our breed of choice, along with quarter horses and paints.
*** Friendly reminder,, flea, tick and mosquito season is getting ready to kick into high gear, so be prepared, easier to prevent them on your dog, than to have to treat your dog, house, yard, and everywhere else they hide.
Everyone have a good spring, enjoy this warmer weather!!!!!
Hello! My name is Kathy and I am owned by two Welsh Terriers. Both are rescue dogs that I fostered for WTCares before adopting them. Ellie May has been with me a little over one year; she's 5 years old. She was turned in to a shelter because her owners just didn't have time for her. Higgins came to live with us last October; he will be three this month. He was surrendered to WTCares because the man of the family couldn't deal with his high pitched bark and said "it's either the dog or me!" So, what others no longer wanted became my true treasures!
My previous Welsh Terrier, Mandy, lived to the age of 17 years and 3 months. For a brief time I fostered Cairn Terriers for a Cairn rescue group. When I adopted Ellie and Higgins I reached the limit on dogs allowed by my condo complex. Fostering is a difficult thing to do - I always wanted to keep my fosters!
I'm interested to read several posts about Rottweillers because one of my friends who breeds Welshies and shows many breeds had Rotties for years and says they were the most gentle, good natured, patient dogs he has ever had - they practically helped raise his twin sons. He maintains that it is the owner and the training that determines the nature of the dog, although puppy millers and backyard breeders who do not consider temperment in their breedings can be responsible for dogs with problems in any breed.
Hi. I'm Rhonda, my husband and I live in Ironwood, MI, about 10 minutes away from the Wisconsin border, but were born and raised in Northern Wisconsin. We run sled dogs and currently have 19 dogs, including 18 Alaskan Huskies, and one German Shepherd. Alaskan Huskies are not purebred dogs, but are bred with and for the desire to pull hard and run fast. One of the most asked questions when people see our kennel is whether or not they all have names and how we can keep them all straight. Well, they do all haves names and VERY different personalities, that we know very well. We are very attached to each and every one of our dogs. They are amazing animals and we feel priviledged to have the opportunity to know and love them, as well as appreciate the drive and willingness to work so hard that they each posess.
Wow these are some interesting stories! I agree that a dog's behavior is the reflection of their owner's treatment towards them.
Our dog Sandy was very naughty when we brought her home from the pound, wild and ill mannered. I brought her to a dog obedience class and realized at that time that it was training me more than her.
She was a beagle/lab mix - has been gone over 12 years now and we still talk about and miss her as a dear family member.
Hello everyone!
My name is Kriss - I live in Madison and have one dog. Chesapeake Bay Retriever - 9 years old - Bridget. She was my late husbands hunting dog - now she only has to hunt for her lost tennis balls.
We made a lot of mistakes when she was young so she is not particularly dog friendly. She does love anyone who will throw a tennis ball or anything else for her to retrieve. She knows most of her toys by name and unless she wants to mess with us will get the one we tell her to. (yes - she likes to play games with us too!) She has completely 100% become attached to the "new man" in our lives.... I think she would follow him anywhere.
Never thought I was a "dog person" but now I can't imagine life without one.
I am the owner of several species of animals, thanks to my 8-year old son. First, we have a 1-year old sheepdog. She is overly friendly, and shares her hair with everyone she comes across. Also, there are two cockatiels, who never shut up! With a little help, they have learned some words, but only speak them as you are putting the curtain over them at night. Next, we have "Snakey", a 2-year old African Ball Python, who dosen't speak, but will hiss once in awhile when he feels like it. He enjoys swimming in the tub, and going for walks in the summertime, and frightening people who are afraid of snakes. We had some rats, but he et them up! Thats it. hello my name is josef.
I am a huge animal lover, and much of my time is spent with my wonderful k-9 friends
Hubby and I live in western Wisconsin on 80 acres...soon to be more.
We are a couple in our 20's with no children yet except for our pooches.
My husband was in the Navy until he became very ill with meningitis, and now he is medically retired.
I credit our animals to much of his recovery.
We own a golden retriever, a border collie, 2 chihuahuas, and 2 cats.
Lots more to come!!
I am always up for some animal chat, and I look forward to getting to know you all!
tj our Bostn terrier
The day he came to stay with us. This shot was taken right after his first bath.
He is an amazing dog, has no fears, does not know he is small( 15 lbs ), and just loves to snuggle when I am at my computer.
He is now a little over 1 1/2 years old.

I always liked Boston terriers, they remind me of the boxer breed..but toy size.
But I haven't met a Boston Terrier that isn't super hyper. How is yours?
He can get going alright. We also have a Golden that is very laid back. So tj does a romp to get her going but he will go crazy for 15 ninutes and then lay in my lap or my wife's lap totaly exhausted and will stay ther all night. He does this dance when I get home but calms eventually. The size makes him easy to manage. I guess we have a small one because they can get up to 40 lbs. tj is only 15 lbs.
I will post a photo of the golden sometime she is about 50 lbs but thinks she is a lap dog!!!!!! very pathetic

40 pounds? I always thought of them as being really small/med dogs. I guess our Boxer is really small for a boxer. When we bought her several years ago (full grown) she was only 38 pounds. I have never been able to get any weight on her since.

I am introducing my Miniture Schnauzer Schatzi to all of you. I know if you have read my late intoduction that I have mentioned the fact that she is our newest family member and that she recently learned to fetch the frisbee. We love her alot!

Demon71 here, also commonly known as Greg H from Lake Geneva. My wife and I have had dogs all of our married life. It seems like forever but has only been 25 years. Sherman, our yellow lab was adopted from PackerLab Rescue in 2002. He was followed by Libby, our english pointer that we adopted from Illinios Birddog Rescue. We also are fostering 2 english setters for the rescue. We will probably end up adopting Daniel Boone and we are waiting for the perfect home for Shyla.
I must say that our dogs are really spoiled and have us trained just the way they want us.
With 4 dogs, there is always something to smile about.
Hi,my name is Lisa and I live in La Crosse, WI. I have two male dogs; Yorkiepoo (Midnight) who is 2yr and a Bichonpoo (Sunshine) who is 1 1/2 yrs. I also have a year old Maltesepoo (Sophie) who just had puppies!!! The daddy is the Bichonpoo. Sophie gave birth to 9 puppies, but 4 were stillborn. We have 3 females and 2 males. They are so cute!! They are a week and 2 days old.
Hey everyone...Kelly here. I did post in My Little Zoo thread about all my pets. But I will include a few pictures of my dogs in this one. I own 4. Renegade and Sierra....they are German Shephards. Then their is Chief and Apache (they are brothers). I have my own doggie tribe going on here. I was able to bring the two little brothers home for an hr a day starting at 3 weeks of age (my neighbor bred them) so it was fun to see them interact with the family at such an early age. I will post pictures of them then and now...they look NOTHING like themselves.
