Two and half weeks after the tornado in Alabama this dog returned to what was left of his owner's home. He had both front legs broken, but managed to find his way back. He has had surgery since and a couple of casts put on his legs until they heal.

Oh I saw this story. . . so sad. Makes you wonder what went through that poor dog's mind as he wandered around in pain looking for his home again.

It's funny how animals seem to tolerate pain more than humans do. I suppose they really don't have a choice.

I think it also has something to do with their strong urge to be loyal and protective to their owner(s) too. He knew there was something wrong and wanted to get back home maybe to see if he was needed I would think.

Dogs are less self-aware than humans are so they are disconnected from the pain....

We had a dog get hit by a car and his hindquarters were crushed.. he dragged himself to the small factory my mom and I worked at near our house and lay in the driveway wagging his tail.. we lifted him into the car and took him to the vet.. had to have him put to sleep. I dunno how he knew where we were but he did.. His name was "Puppy"..
