When I lived in New York my one dog absolutely loved the snow, even when it was several feet deep.. my other dog had to be literally thrown out the door if it was snowing or raining (she hated getting her feet wet!).
We had a Weimaraner that my stepfather took hunting as they are natural pointers. Turned out he had to carry her much of the time because the field was too wet and muddy and she would not walk thru it!
I was thinking how this dog didn't seem to mind the cold of the snow. We had a boxer that hated getting cold. She would go out and as soon as her feet got cold that was it, she wanted to come back in...pronto! lol
You have to figure, short haired dogs are basically naked so I can see why they'd hate being cold. Not to mention, snow and ice get between dog's pads and they can get frostbite, just like humans.

I love to see animals frolic like that.. I think once they become self aware, they have a greater appreciation for life than people do.
I hate people that have "outside" animals .. why have a pet if the only time you interact with it is long enough to bring it food, water, or untangle it's chain?
I had a neighbor like that once.. their dog's food dish was covered with flies in summer and it's water dish was frozen in winter. Poor guy used to perk up whenever I'd come out to talk to it or when one of our dogs was out. They had a fenced yard like we did, yet I never saw that dog off it's chain.
I've never owned an animal that I didn't also allow into the house - excepting farm animals. We had 400 chickens, woulda made for a crowded living room.
