Maybe 10 years or so ago we stopped at a 'kennel' on the very north side of Racine on Sheridan Road.
I will never forget that day.
We entered a run down older building and I knew the minute I stepped in that we made a mistake in stopping there. I will never forget the stench and the filth and the sadness of the dogs we encountered in there.
The cages were lined up on two sides way into the building. The sad part was the fact that there wasn't just one layer, but several cages on top of each other all the way down. This meant the dogs under the top layer were hit with whatever came down on them....I'm sure you can imagine what I'm referring to.
I never smelled anything so awful. By the time I was maybe less than 1/2 way through my eyes watered from the strong urine smell, as well as the sadness of the poor mistreated dogs. By the time I was maybe a little over half way through I could go no further.
I had to turn around and quickly go back to the outside where I almost lost my lunch. I was shaking and I'm sure white in the face....the lady came out to see if I was ok.
My husband actually made it all the way through and back since he wanted to see how bad it was I guess. I could not take anymore I just wanted to scream at this woman!!
I do know the place had enough complaints and finally the authorities was able to shut the place down. I'm not sure where they moved off to but I do know they are gone from the place we visited.
I truly hope they were not allowed to start up again someplace. But you never know maybe it is even the place you referred to as G. Schulz.
