Beaver Dam School District In Need Of Musical Instruments
Now, an area school district is asking the community for help.
It's being called an instrument drive.
Faculty and staff in the Beaver Dam School District are asking anyone with an old instrument to dust it off and hand it over.
-------
a hurting economy means fewer kids are picking up an instrument.
It's not because they aren't interested.
It's because their parents just can't afford them.
" Not being able to afford an instrument, that's a terrible reason to tell a kid they can't be in band."
The drive started just a few days ago.
Already they have gotten eight instruments, including a clarinet and a hundred dollar check from the man who turned it in to repair it.
Zeman hopes the drive helps.
If it doesn't he fears the beat may not go on.
If you have an old instrument lying around that you'd like to donate, you should contact the Beaver Dam Band Department.
He's hoping to get 75 of them.
He says he will accept instruments through the summer.
