Maybe because in an odd way it reaffirms my belief in God.. and I say that seriously. I love a clear, cool day with a beautiful view too by the way. I just don't like when it's too hot and humid out.

I'll just send all the bad weather your way since I don't want it here. Right now snow isn't a good thing for me. I'm by myself and have to worry about the driveway. I have to worry about getting in to see my husband. Believe me, that's important for both of our sanities. A day feels like a week to us right now.
I'm guessing here Dave but I'm thinking it's not so much as the personal destruction from the storms and bad weather but you like the surreal of it all. The wildness, the eeriness, the unpredictable behavior, the unexpectedness of what happens from one second to the next. The feeling of power you get when you can lay in the bed surrounded by warmth and can look out or listen to the fieriness of the outside weather fighting with the outside surroundings of your home. Maybe get a little rush off of it all. Guess in a way that's better than being really scared and cringing at the thought of the danger. You prefer to face it?
It's more of a personal thing that excites you not that you want it too be bad or harmful. And you can admit to feeling that you like it. Kinda like a child that doesn't understand the danger of storms but the excitement of watching the snow build up so they can play, or the rain pouring down so they can run through the puddles afterwards.
So I am guessing in another life you may have been a storm chaser one that loved to follow tornadoes and get a rush out of being able to be involved with nature's fury in some way.
LOL OK, that is my thoughts for the day. I'll send my bill later.

I miss this comment somehow...in a strange way I actually understand where you are going with this. Just I gave my one long answer already so will just say...interesting thought here.
Well I took a short video of the snow in my backyard today. They say anywhere from 8" and now up to 24" but that depends on the news station your watching. The snowstorm should last for another 24 hours and I have to admit, just a half hour after taking the vid the snow is coming down even harder, I love a good snowstorm or Blizzard.
This is from the Weather station.
ASHLAND COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND ASHLAND CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT VISIBILITY DOWN TO A HUNDRED FEET ALONG THE BAYFRONT... AND THEY HAVE CLOSED A SECTION OF HIGHWAY 2 FROM SANBORN AVENUE TO STATE HIGHWAY 13 NORTH. HEAVY SNOW... ALONG WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING WERE OCCURRING. 8 INCHES OF SNOW HAS FALLEN IN THE ASHLAND AREA SO FAR. SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS... MAKING CONDITIONS HAZARDOUS.

I always enjoyed snow storms as a kid because it usually meant school was canceled and the day was going to be spent sledding or building snow forts. Now, I don't really care much for snow at all. I'm glad when I can stay home and not have to go out but rather watch it through the window.
Which reminds me.. one of my first times driving was in a snowstorm.. the other students were glad they were sitting in the back seat.
Oh ya...the first time I drove on snowy roads was in drivers ed. I came around a corner too fast for conditions and took out someone's mail box with the driver's ed. car! After that, the owners cemented their mail box post in an old milk can and it's still there 35 years later! LOL Oh...and my BFF was my driver's ed partner and she was in the back seat at the time. She still brings up the "mail box incident" once in awhile and then I have to remind her of the "snow bank incident" which happened when she put the driver's ed car in the ditch and the teacher made us shovel it out of the snow! LOL We sure had some fun times back then!

I hear so many complaints that we may not have snow for Christmas. But I also hear over and over that this winter for us is going to be very bad with tons of snow. So I look at it this way, the longer the snow stays away the hopefully the shorter the time span to have winter it will be. We made it through December so just think we only will have JAN and Feb and maybe a bit of March and it will be Spring again.
They predict a hard winter for my area.. I don't mind the snow but we usually get a lot of freezing rain and ICE.. I could do without the ice, thanks!

I am not ready for snow this year. I already feel the chill of snow falling on me or blowing into my face.

Getting back to the topic. I do not recall the year but is was sometime between 1975 and 1978. I was living in Hortonville and drove to Appleton for work . Against my better judgement I went to work in a snow storm. It was terrible driving but I got there. About 1:30 my boss told me unless I wanted to stay the night I should head home.I hoped in my 1974 pinto squire(wood grain) staion wagon and headed home. The snow was blinding and there were actual whites out where I would be just crawling along. I hit a huge snow drift that cover the road and came to halt only to be hit in the back by a guy that was following me too close. Before I could even blink I was hit again because someone was following him too close. It was a chain reaction. My car was driven into the snow drift and I was stuck. The other two manged to get out after filling out accident reports. The funny part was the guy that hit me was a friend from high school that I had not seen in many years.
To make this story short it turned out he lived very close to me and I did not know it. We renewed our friendship that day.
While waiting for a tow truck I sat in the cop car(thank God) a huge beverage truck ran right over the top of my little Pinto wagon crushing it. It was killed right there. My very 1st brand new car was killed.
That was my worst snowever.

Hm, not Wisconsin but you mentioned that date range and I was stuck 7 hours going 3 miles on a bus during the Blizzard of '77 in Rochester, NY.. anything similar in Wisconsin that year?
