Founding versus incorporation
Appleton has a histroy club. see the linky below.
Appleton History Club 1857 - WELCOME!
The open two lines are. "Appleton, Wisconsin was founded as a city in 1857. It was incorperated in 1853."
My question is why are the dates different between founding and incorporation? Are they not the the same? Doesn't founding mean naming? And can you incorporate without a name?
This makes me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
