Why do weather reports sound bad?

Maybe they are just dumb. They might want to just get you worked up about it all.

I think otherwise they would be bored with their jobs. When we are going to get snow or bad weather it gives them something exciting to report. lol

Hmmm....I think it might be because people tend to forget how to drive in bad weather from one year to the next. Did you ever notice how many accidents happen during the first snow or ice storm each winter?

A weather man was our neighbor some years ago, and I asked him. He told me no matter how much fancy equipment they have, they still can not predict the weather accurately. There are always last minute changes in weather. People would call him and complain that it rained when he predicted little chance.

So, they do the best they can for the benefit of the majority - it is better to err on the side of safety and less complaining. People won't complain if they are prepared for the worst but if the worst comes unexpectedly the calls come in.
