Here's a question I wonder how many people ask themselves when watching a farmer plowing 'his' land....how far down does the farmer own? Does his land go only a certain amount of feet? Does it go as far as he needs to plow? Or does he own to the center of the earth?
just wondering....

Interesting question. Real Estate law suggest people own the land from the center of the earth (this includes mineral rights) outward to the heavens. When air flight came to be, real estate law had to be amended to assume the right to fly through "private real estate" in the sky!

Your question is quite deep in nature;therefore it will be difficult to answer. I would say while the depth may not be listed in any known abstarct ,anyone claming owership deeper than the surface would still need to access such proprtey from the surface which maybe considered trespassing.
This is just my "lo" on this topic, but I maybe only scratching the surface on this issue.
...Them's got ears, let them hear
Them's got eyes, let them see
Turn your eyes to the lord of the skies
Take this airline plane
It'll take you home again
Mineral rights can be sold separately, though 'rights of way' may need to be negotiated.
Mineral rights have been purchased with no right of way. An example is oil drilling using a shaft drilled at an angle to reach minerals (oil) under someone else's property.
lol I wouldn't think that a farmer really thinks about it either. He is to busy just trying to get the work all done. It takes someone like me that doesn't own a farm to wonder weird things like this. lol
Thanks for all the great answers though. I'll think of another silly questions sometime soon.
