COW INTESTINES???? huh???
OK, now I know this is going to be a 'silly' question to many of our great Wisconsin folks here but bare with me...I'm just a city girl!!
But what the heck was someone trucking COW INTESTINES for? Where do you take Cow Intestines? To the cow dump? Do they use it for dog food? WHAT??? lol lol Sorry but I had to ask. oh and by the way..I think I would be listening to my MP3 player also, trying not to think of what I was transporting! :?
Truck carrying cow intestines tips over in Wisconsin
Talk about road kill.
About 40 tons of cow intestines and bones spilled onto a major highway after a truck driver became distracted by his MP3 player and his semitrailer tipped over.
Authorities closed parts of Interstate 43 for about two hours Thursday while the beef byproduct was cleaned up, said sheriff's Sgt. Blaine Spicer. The accident happened in the town of Mosel when 25-year-old Ryan Engle's truck veered off the road as he adjusted his MP3 player, Spicer said.
Engle, of Kenosha, was cited for inattentive driving and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Spicer said.

Have you ever eaten a skinless hotdog? ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Did you know that, at least for a while they used plastic for a casing?
I am not sure if they still do because I look for the natural casing hotdogs, always. I love the crunch you get when you bite into them.
But then if I focus on what I am eating well i don't eat them.
I only have hot dogs in the summer and a Friday night of camping after we set-up. We get a fire going and cook hot dogs over the fire and my wife heats up a can of chili and some cheese slices. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Now I wish it was summer. I can almost taste those HOTDOGS!!!!

  OK, after 'chewing'on this for awhile because my 'gut' feeling told me that there was more to cow intestines than HOT DOGS...
I found a few useful and interesting facts about:
COW INTESTINES AND IT'S MANY USES.
Hope you are ready for this!
Well it seems as if there are lots of choices of Tacos. I won't list them all here but this is one I found:
Different types of Tacos:
Among other types of tacos (brain, cheek, etc.)
Asador or the grill in which the following is served: carne asada tacos which are world famous, tacos de tripita or cow intestine tacos (cow intestines also grilled to a crispyness),
Also found this little tidbit:
Tripas, fried beef intestines (not stomach) used in Mexican tacos and burritos....
So there you have one more use of Cow Intestines other than hot dog casing...
pk
(think I will stick with steak tacos from now on) LOL

Looking further into this subject I also found:
Sopa de Mondongo is a hearty traditional soup of Latin America and the Caribbean.
It is made from slow-cooked diced tripe (the cleaned intestines and stomach of a cow). Vegetables like bell peppers, onions, carrots, cabbage, celery, or root vegetables are added.
So now we have another interesting meal made with yummy COW INTESTINES.

OK, moving out of food and on to other items. (wow, didn't know cow intestines was sooo fun)!
Tissue from the small intestines becomes catgut for racket strings or surgical sutures.
Natural gut is the premier string used by professional tennis players. It is the most expensive string, but also the most playable. Natural gut is made by extracting fibers from cow intestine. The fibers are dried and then synthesised into a tennis string. One tennis string may contain hundreds or thousands of individual fibers, or filaments.
Did you know?
Do cows raised in climates that produce lush pastures produce better natural gut? Some manufacturers believe so, and buy their serosa from specific sources in an attempt to maintain a consistent quality.
What makes natural gut so special? The structural design of natural gut makes it unique and gives it superior performance qualities for a tennis string.

And the last one I have for now:
Here is another interesting use for COW INTESTINES:
Many health products Heparin, an anticoagulant used to thin blood, comes from a cow's lungs and intestines.
So now you have it...next time you hear...GOT MILK??? Us city folks will know that there is alot more to a cow than just MILK!! lol
Now I'm sure there are many more uses of COW INTESTINES, can anyone else string this along any longer and find more??

These days, hot dog, and even some bratwurst casings are sheep, or goat intestines. "Skinless" hot dogs are actually a collagen. Natural protein found in bones and cartilage. There's also a synthetic collagen.

Hot Dogs/Wieners casings are usually sheep or hog intestines. Many sausage producers use collagen casings.

I'm kidding, of course. I saw it once and that was enough. You could see all the ridges on the guts...eww! No guts for me.
