Best thing to do when designing for business is keep it simple, readable, and accessible. The design should load fast and immediately draw the customer's attention where needed.
I used to design sites up until a few years ago.. these days you have to twist my arm to do paid work as I find it too "stressful", let's say. It takes alot of patience.
This is an example of a paid template but, this is what, in my opinion, I always told my clients they should strive for:
Professional appearance, fast loading, easy to read..
Background images look nice, but they generally detract from what you're trying to say. If you want graphics to add some color or demo your service or product, you can place them sparingly within your text or use a gallery.
Keep in mind that not everyone uses DSL or Broadband Cable.. if a site takes over 10 seconds to load, most people will be tempted to click away.
Thank you all if you could take a look again I have changed a few things. But I can not get the main page background to match the rest of the site for some reason.
That's quite an improvement. I think if you add a logo, then you're on your way. Yeah, I'm picky about logos, since I'm good at doing those.
maybe you can help me with something then. I have a logo that I use for my shirts and I would like that on the site but I can not find a way to get it to online. Here is a photo of it.

I still like it.... dont have any suggestions about the front page backround. I'm at a loss when it comes to making websites and struggle thru keeping my updated ~ which I'm behind on

I'm not quite sure what your trying to change here. Are you talking about the world globe background?
I think your talking about the background where the text is am I right? If so then you should find the background colors in your Glossy.css file. You also have images that make up your background. Look in your templates folder / images for:
top.gif
body-bg-gif
bottom-bg.gif
You'll need to change those images to the color you want.

The best thing you can do is make that logo with Illustrator so that's it's vector art. This will allow you to use it any size for whatever you need to put it on.
How that needs to be done is to bring the photo into Illustrator and trace over it with the pen tool. Yeah, it's tedious and requires patience. It's not something that everyone is good at.
If you don't have Illustrator or some other vector program, you'll have to find someone that does and they can do it for you.
