Well, as of today, no phone calls or emails from anyone after the article in the paper came out. I hope today will bring a different day. As I pulled in the driveway today from taking my kids to school, the news on the radio came on. They said disconnects this year are tremendously this year. Only 12% of people have called in to make arrangements. Others are avoiding the dreaded day next week. Maybe because when you try and call you get some arrogant person who thinks they are better than you and doesn't understand. Sure they are doing their job, but they don't have to be so cruel. It is not like people don't try. That is just depressing. As I told the reporter I know I am not the only one facing this problem on the 15th. The economy is bad for a lot of folks out there. That is why it kills me to ask for help when there are others out there in another boat, but floating down the same river. Why should people help me? Maybe that is why not many have. Who knows.
I did wake up this morning to have someone donate $20 to Finned Friends. Not sure where she read this at, but I will be sending out a thank you. We raised a total of $40 and it has been over a week and we only have 5 days left.
Again, thanks for all those on here that have helped me send numereous emails. If only you knew what my daughter did and asked yesterday this would break your heart even more.

Well Kelly, I thought this is crazy that you are getting no where as far as help especially from your own town. So I sat down and started making phone calls in your area. I was hoping that phone calls could result in answers since none of the many emails I have sent everywhere not just in your area but that of surrounding areas have resulted in even one reply back.
Well, your Chamber of Commerce someone named Krista was very nice, seemed interested and willing to take down your website and pass the info to her director. This gave me hope....well that was about it. Your mayor's office didn't even want to take the time to write down the website address clearly letting me know that she had no time for it.
The city lawyer was nicer to talk to but he had totally no clue as to what you can do. Apparently the message I got is that you are out of luck if you think your city will help in any way. I pushed the fact that yes, many people will be in your situation in a few days. (electric cut) I get that. But what about the 12,000 fish that rely on the air supply to live? Isn't that a concern to know that all these beautiful creatures will slowly die in 5 days if there is no help?
Well what would be done if people knew a home had a ton of dogs that was about to suffocate and die slowly? Certainly someone would step in and offer help? Maybe a Church fundraiser? A bar holding a special dance?? I kinda got the message today that would be different. grrrrrr
I'm so sorry but I think I have exhausted all the avenues that I could think of to help. Guess it's in the hands of those that read the forums and news articles and of course God as to how this plays out.

I just got home and saw you made a donation. This makes me so happy, you have no idea. I did send you an email via my Web email. I hope you receive it. Again, thanks so much. Any bit will help and all add up in the end. I just received one more donation from a person in Ohio named Wayne. Not sure where he read this from, but wanted to say thanks for that too.
Patti, it sure is sad to live in an area where help is scarce. I think people didn't believe me when I kept saying I have tried this or tried that. See why I want to make a differnce up here? Because there are just way too many people that don't want to help or just don't care. I thought by making a difference I could pay it forward and be one of the ones who did care. Now you know why all the tears. And believe me, many was shed already today.

Well today in the mail was another donation. From whom, I do not know. They never left a return address. In a beautiful fish envelope. This brings my total donations up to 5. I am hoping tomorrow brings a better day as today has been extremely rough. Thank you all who have helped in any which way, kind words and donations. Who knows, maybe I will wake to more surprises. Once tomorrow comes I will be down to 4 days.

That's so wonderful to read that donations are starting to come in to help you. There is a lot of really great people out there with kind hearts and it's just the matter of getting the word out. I'm sure with all the networking going on and the news story each day should be good. Will it be enough? I have no idea but it's good to see that people do care.

Thank you Patti. I woke up this morning to have a local lady send me my 6th donation. I am so grateful for the help people are starting to show with the donation aspect. With only 4 days left, I still have a long way to go. I am praying my miracle will come through and it will all work out in the end.
The paper did come out today. And as he said, he didn't know if he would be able to talk the big guys in letting him write about anything bad or the need. Well, he must not have been able to. The article in the paper was so cool cause the setting was a fish bowl with a few of my pictures surrounding it. I will have to see if I can scan it just so you can see how neat it looks. But here is a link to the online article.
I truly hope that everyone here and in your area reads this. I really have faith that people reading this post, looking at the pictures of your beautiful fish, reading the articles in your local area paper, that they will open their hearts and their pocket books and send what they can to help. Any amount will help since it all adds up. With the paypal button on your website it makes it even easier to send money.
Please remember you have many people out here that care and have been following your story.

If not if you go to my site, click on the Rescue tab, the link is in there. I appreciate any help. I haven't received any donations at all today. I have gotten a total of 10 so far. So am grateful for all the help, donations, ideas, kind words. They all mean so much. Especially after someone has sent out a SCAM email to people I know. Saying I am deceitful, a scam artist, how I can't sleep at night because all I do is think of how I can SCAM people. This really hurt and I have been down in the dumps all day about this.
I just want everyone here to know that I swear to God that I am not any of that. Those who know me knows that I would give the shirt off my back to help someone, so why someone wants to hurt me, I don't know. It just hurts.

Oh, I never would have thought to click there. I was looking for a link on the story about this whole thing. I know there's not much time left but I suggest putting a big donation link on every page of your site. Most people won't ask for help finding the link.

Kelly, I know the time is clicking and it's getting closer and closer to the time that the world will shut off for your 12,000 fish and your business. I honestly believed that enough donations would come in to save the lives of all these beautiful fish. Through out this I kept telling you to 'keep the faith' that I really believed there is enough good hearted people out there that would send enough to save this for you. I will keep my fingers crossed that your miracle will still happen. You still have a very, very short time left that something could happen yet.
Everyone, please if you read this and feel for the future of this wonderful business and family to continue with the work that they are doing, and if you can send a few dollars do so before it is to late. Even if you can't at this time if you could please post this on other forums you may visit or send this info out to everyone on your email list I am sure Kelly will appreciate it all.
I rarely do ask people to help and try to push them to donate to any one cause since I know like everyone else does that there is so many, many unfortunate people out there that need our help. But sometimes I think we need to take a stand to help someone and for whatever reason I really feel that Kelly and her many fish need our support at this time.

Thanks, pk. My site isn't very popular, yet, so I don't know that it will help any but I had to at least try. I just wish I'd seen this sooner. I've been so very busy I haven't been able to get to theBubbler much.
Back on topic... Kelly: I don't remember anyone mentioning this. Do you know anyone with a generator that could offer backup power for while to give you some breathing room? What about a payment plan with the electric company? When I was younger, I was in a bad money situation and they were always willing to take payments. Though, that was with normal electric use, so I don't know how they'd react to this.

Thanks Pk for the kind words and faith. You have been my rock here. And I think you know that. Michelle, I need a large down payment to get put on a plan. That is why I am at the mercy of others. My bills were around the $700 mark this winter. Month after the equipment got put in they went from $175 to $550. And they have never come down but keep going up. So yes, the electric company is willing to set me up on a plan but I have to have a large downpayment to do that. As for a generator, I have thought of that to and do own a small one. But that would only keep the air flowing, as they are reliant on the gas portion for their heat. Plus without the gas too, I would have no hot water to keep doing their water changes. How many fish I have per tank, they need proper water changes to keep their ammonia level down or it will kill them.
I do have someone coming today to buy some fish I think. Not a lot but every bit helps. And I really do appreciate you adding this to your site. As Pk says, every little bit helps.

Wow, that's sad that they won't even work with you without a large down payment. Let's hope you can get enough in donations in the next couple of days. I just put a post about this on two more of my sites. They aren't local sites and it's totally off topic for them so I'm not expecting anything, but they do get a lot of visits so you never know. I wish I would have seen this earlier. There's just not that much time to get the word out anymore.

Update: Due to the Bubbler and fish sites this is posted on, donations for Finned Friends went up to 12. Not yet enough to reach what is needed, but I am very grateful for everyone that feels what I am trying to do is worth while and cares. As a matter of fact, in the last two days, I got two more calls for rescues. I just hope I can make it through this to keep this rescue going.
One of the phone calls was from someone who bought two small Pacu's about three months ago she said and they are already enormous. She said she went back to the Petstore she bought them from and asked them, they told her they get huge and good luck. Nice info to know she told them when she bought them. See why I do what I do? It is not the fishs' fault for someone out to make a sale. That makes me so angry.

Except by the Grace of God...what has happened to Kelly could happen to any of us! PLEASE, MAKE HER CAUSE YOUR CAUSE!
The unscrupulous installer should be having his electricity turned off! But then the installer has made his money...probably lots of it...I wonder who else he has scammed! Kelly, will the equipment manufacturer stand behind their product?
The reality for Kelly is that there are no options to help her save 12,000 little lives except through the kindness within your heart. PLEASE DONATE NOW so the nightmare isn't made a reality on the 15th. Donating whatever amount you can afford will make you feel good and it will help feed the hungry "sharks".
And people PRAY... NOT ONLY FOR KELLY AND THOSE FISH... BUT ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE FACING DISCONNECTION on the 15th.
Does it strike anyone else that the sad state of our economy is also factoring in to the trajedy unfolding here. It is the "little guy" who gets ruthlessly squeezed to death, not people with the financial means to prevent it in the first place. The little guy can hardly squeak loud enough to be heard. We have to help Kelly SCREAM! Contact your local newspaper and ask them to print her story. Phone your radio and TV stations and ask them to give it publicity because it is relevant to the impending disconnection going to be happening to thousands of Wisconsinites.
Perhaps we should send emails to our congressmen and ask them what is being done to help people/businesses like Kellys...that it isn't a home foreclosure, but it could well turn into that! Lauri

Lauri, you really struck a cord. The day I gave my interview to the Merrill paper, I actually pulled in my driveway from taking my kids to school and there on the radio was the news. Sad thing is, 60,000 people throughout the state are in the hands of miracles like I am. Facing disconnection. Worse than that, only 12% they said have made arrangements to keep their service and be put on payment plans. As I told the reporter after hearing this, why should someone help me when 60,000 people, in different boats are floating down the same river as me? I have no more right to be asking for help as these other people do. Plus, with the economy people don't have the extra money just to fork out to others. What I did, posting my story, being interviewed was one of the hardest things in my life I had to do. I have no right to be asking for help when 60,000 people are going through this too. So please know, I am not looking for a handout for someone else to pay my bills for me. I am the type that if I can get through this, believe me.... I will before I die be paying this help forward many times over. I can handle sitting in the dark. I can handle everything that comes my way. Can my kids? Yes, they said they would deal with whatever comes our way. But I took on an oath to protect and save a type of animal no one feels is important. That is why I am here today.
