Beans. There's a extensive category.

Soy beans, is my guess. Perhaps algea. The Blue Green variety. Some folks call it "Pond Scum", or Cyanobacteria.

Re: Lean Protein

I read that if you eat protein within a half an hour after getting up in the morning it will jump start your fat burning process and you can lose weight quicker. I've been doing that for the last month and so far it is working.

Protein-rich foods take longer to leave the stomach, so they keep you full longer than other foods. Protein also keeps blood-sugar levels steady, which prevents the sudden hunger that occurs after a dramatic drop in blood sugar.

Eating breakfast in general soon after waking is a good idea. I've heard everything between a half hour to an hour after waking. It gives you the fuel to keep going and keeps you from pigging out later because you're starving.

So is a simple, instant oatmeal breakfast okay?

Fills me up. I like 'apples & cinnamon' and 'cinnamon-raisin' and the like. Just no protein there.

Regards,
Keith

Ate quick oatmeal breakfast yesterday (and most likely today) . Come to think of it, I wasn't hungry for awhile after breakfast yesterday. Must be something in the story my Mom use to say...eat your oatmeal it will 'stick to your ribs'.

Re: Lean Protein

Yuck for instant oatmeal. I won't eat it. We used to get that when we were sick and I just don't like it anyway.

I only eat real oatmeal and it cooks just as quickly in the microwave as instant. I mix in cinnamon (before adding water) and top with brown sugar when it's done. Sometimes I put in chocolate chips or peanut butter chips. I've mashed a banana in it before. I've put peanut butter in oatmeal. Whatever I come up with.

I only started eating oatmeal a few years ago, because I had bad memories of instant and I was disappointed everytime I tried it again. Then a friend said to try real oatmeal and that it was much better. He was right.

It usually does stick with me.
