I always have to have white rice when I make steak in the slow cooker. It tastes so good with beef gravy on it.
I also make it along with sweet and sour chicken. Otherwise, I don't make rice unless my husband wants some for breakfast. He likes it with sugar and milk on it.
I can't say that I make rice very often unless a recipe calls for it. Sometimes we get those flavored rice mixes from the store to make. I also like the Uncle Ben's wild rice.
Once I bought plain wild rice with no other rice mixed in. That was a mistake. It was like crunching on roaches. It even looked like bugs.
I like to make this rice dessert that I don't really have a name for. We just call it rice with the cinnamon and sugar. You just cook rice, milk and sugar until it gets thick. Basically the milk either absorbs into the rice or gets cooked away until it's thick. Then you just top it with cinnamon. This is one of those pots of rice you have to watch carefully because it likes to boil over.
No, but I remember having this discussion before. Rice pudding has eggs, I think, and raisins and is baked. At least from what I know of it. I've never had it and probably would be picking out the raisins if I did. I like raisins by themselves, but never in things.
My recipe is milk, sugar, and rice are the only ingredients. Cinnamon is added on top when finished.
Recipes passed down from grandmas and mothers don't have names.
This is the closest thing I can find online. I do remember an old coworker of mine calling it creamed rice. The difference I see is that I don't add vanilla and I sprinkle with cinnamon.
I remember being served this same kind of rice dessert in grade school. I also remember seeing it at deli counters from time to time. I don't know what they called it, but probably rice dessert.

Yes, that is rice pudding. I make rice pudding with the left over rice I have with my regular meal. As I cook the sugar and milk in, I add a small handful of raisins.
Wild rice takes some time to finesse. Be sure to read the package directions, and follow them closely. Wild rice can be finicky. Have patience, and enjoy.

Roaches, LOL..
I have found that wild rice that has been sitting too long in the bag needs more cooking time. It dries out too much. Wild rice should not be crunchy when fully cooked. Sounds like you got some old rice....
The occasion allowed me to have rice in all of it's glory. I ate a large pile of cooked rice, drank a great amount of water(by comparison), and felt full to the brim.
Do you mean the fried rice or how good their white rice turns out? You can buy a rice steamer. I don't know much about those or if you can use them for other things.
Fried rice.. I actually have no problem with steamed rice but just can't get the fried rice "quite right"..
