I'm a butter guy.
Butter doesn't clog the arteries like margarine does. Butter has a better flavor, and a lower melting point. Butter melts at body temperature, where margarine requires a person to run a fever in order for it to freely through arteries and blood vessels. When it comes to maintaining health, I pull out all the stops. Spend the money on nutritious eating when you are young enough, and you won't have to spend your money on doctor visits, and drugs when you grow older.
I find it simple to put a couple tbsp. of butter in a small bowl and nuking it for a few seconds, just to loosen it up. Then I apply it to my bread with a pastry brush.
