Anything you absolutely can't do without when baking? Favorite gadget or utensil?
Ever tried the new silicone baking sheets and the like?
Well...I guess I absolutely couldn't do without my oven when baking! LOL
I've never tried the silicone baking sheets yet. They look so flimsy that I would be afraid they would twist when taking them out of the oven and then I would have a mess every where!
I've wondered about that as well but am willing to give the silcone muffin ones a try.. will let you know how they work out.

I don't actually use them but my most cherished baking items that I own are my Mom's very old bowls she use to always use when baking. All my life I can remember when she brought one of the bowls down I knew she was going to fix something good.
For some reason most potato peelers and I seem to not like each other. lol But I do have one old one that I get along with and can peel potatoes with really good. I actually found another one quite like it in an Estate Sale so I now have 2.
Have no idea what I would do without my microwave. Use it all the time.
I use mine all the time. I used to work with a lady hardly used hers. I'm not sure how that is possible since it makes life so much easier. It also makes for a lot less dishes to wash.
A few things people don't think of using a microwave for is making pudding and making white sauce. It sure beats standing around stirring constantly.
I also use mine to heat up a cup of hot chocolate. Perfect temp every time.
I try to remember when I was a kid how we use to warm up leftovers from the night before. I now just fill a plate up with food and warm it all up in a few minutes, but maybe we had to cook each item in a pan again, just enough to warm it? lol Oh we are all so spoiled now.

I don't think we could manage without our microwave. We bought a new one from Sears in January and I love it! I always make cooked pudding in the microwave...8 minutes and it's done! I also use it for cocoa and tea but mostly for thawing meat out. I hardly ever plan meals ahead so I have to thaw stuff in the microwave on a regular basis. Plus my husband couldn't go without his microwave popcorn!

Remember how big the first microwaves were? The first one we bought was big enough to cook a whole turkey in and it came with instructions on how to do it too, although I never tried it. The one I have now is lots smaller but has a curved back and is deep and wide enough to reheat a whole pizza in.

And it had a big dial on it that you had to turn to the minutes you wanted.
Remember how you were always told...stand way back from the front of the microwave until you were almost afraid to even look at the thing with fear you were going to be nuked or something? lol At least that is how I remember the first ones. lol lol
Years back I also could not imagine living without my 'seal-a-meal' (harvest gold, no less), or my bake-a-round, glass tube that you could bake french bread in and it would be a nice crust all the way around. I still have these things but haven't used them in years.

I remember those although I didn't own either. I do still have a "Veggi-Matic" though and I used it once this year to make hash brown potatoes. It sure beats having to slice them all.
Oh...I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but there is NO way I could do without my slow cooker! I use it for all kinds of meals (when I plan them ahead) and don't know what I would do without it!
I use to use one too until I loss a few of the pieces in a move I guess. But the funny thing is I actually found one in a garage sale this summer like new, still in the original box, with all the paperwork with it for 2 bucks. Yeah, had to buy it just for fun.

Of course! I totally love the ones I have. I have several in different sizes.
I also love my big nesco type cooker that I can do a whole turkey in. It's great for a huge batch of spaghetti sauce, stuff chickens, huge thing of sloppy joes, etc. etc.
I remember when we used a hand mixer for everything. My mom had a really old one with the red painted handle. It would be sooo boring to turn the handle over and over. We had to either count or watch the timer to make sure we did it the right amount of time.
My son would have to say he loves my (his) lol Magic Bullet. He begged for me to get a Magic Bullet for a Christmas present one year and then promptly took it over and uses it all the time.
