How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

Fast and easy with a variety of flavors, I like to experiment while making my hamburger helper.. adding this and that.

How about you?

I almost always add peppers and onions to the beef.. sometimes garlic and pepper.. tonight I'm having three cheese Hamburger Helper.

Was just thinking they'd make a great filler for Shepherd's Pie or similar..

Hamburger Helper How-To

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

My brother in law used to call it Hamburger Helpme.

I don't get it very often, but I've used italian sausage, ham, or chicken in place of the hamburger. I've added mushrooms or veggies, also.

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

I can never eat the whole thing and usually don't get around to leftovers so shared mine tonight with the stray cats and my neighbor.

Yummy!

For my son, i use to buy hamburger helper Singles, but he'd eat 2 or 3 at a time & it defeated the purpose lol That might be a better option for you.

Not often i will make hamburger helper, but when i have, i usually would use chopped steak, rather than hamburger.

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

Yeah, I'm a pretty big eater.. singles wouldn't make much sense for me either. And generally it's cheaper for me to buy store-brand for 99 cents and then give away what I won't eat.

Smart move, you would pay more than that for the singles. it was such a waste of my money, didn't take long to realize that lol

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

Hamburger Helper should be outlawed. At least mandate a skull and crossbones on every package. I wouldn't feed Hamburger Helper to my dog, or the neighbor's dog. Ever read the ingredients panel? It would be helpful to have a degree in chemistry.

We wonder why the kids are so fat...and the incidence of diabetes is so high lately? It's because people eat garbage like Hamburger Helper, and they don't exercise.

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

Actually it is just as easy to make your own skillet meal than run out and buy mystery hamburger helper meals. I brown hamburger and add things I have here such as soup, cream of or even regular soup such as chicken noodle, Ramon noodle soups etc. and go from there. Can of tomatoes, or some veggies thrown in. The list of what you can do to it is endless.

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

Yup, as I posted before, I usually just make my own skillet dinners. At least I know what's going in them and the ingrediants are fresh and not sitting in a box for a very long time.

Re: How Do You Help Your Hamburger Helper?

It's funny though the few times I will pick up hamburger helper meals I will get the store brand if it's cheaper. For some reason my kids will eat the off brand and like it better. And yes, I know, many companies make the brand name and then switch labels and put the same stuff in the store brand labeled boxes.

It's not necessarily how long the ingredients have been in the box, it's what the ingredients are.

They should label the box as "Box 'O' Garbage".

Garbage or not, it seems the portions in those boxes get smaller and smaller.. "Serves 6" must mean "6 hummingbirds"..
