I think spaghetti is always better the second day.. it's one thing I will eat as a leftover.

The difference is, my neighbors either can't afford to make their own meals or just can't physically.. so my leftovers give them an actual meal instead of them grabbing toast for supper.
My buddy used to get over $900 a month in food stamps, always had full cupboards but I'd see them eating fried potatoes or chicken nuggets for supper.. so I'd take them down a roast or ribs or spaghetti so his kids would have a decent meal once in awhile.

What time is dinner?? We will be there! Sounds really good.

I didn't end up making that for dinner. My daughter went home after work & started dinner before I got home from work. We had beef steak & potatoes. Of course she started it and as soon as I walked in the door she forgot how to make it & mom took over. Was good though!
After work I need to run into Wisconsin (22 miles) to register my truck. Plates expire on Sunday & I refuse to register in Illinois. Then we are grocery shopping. Chances are we will be eating dinner somewhere in WI tonight.. they have a world buffet there, but she hates that place.
Tonight I'm making this yummy soup made with shredded summer squash, carrots and crab meat. My husband was the one that originally found this recipe.
Then I'm making sweet potato bread to go with it. That recipe is also really good. It calls for 2 kinds of cheese and I see I accidently bought a smokey flavored blue cheese. I didn't even know there was such a thing. We'll see how that turns out.
I still need to get to the grocery store to buy yellow summer squash because they were all out last time and I wasn't going to use green zucchini in it's place because that would make for a really ugly crab soup.
Here's a trick I be you guys didn't know about. You can wrap potatoes in foil and put them in your slow cooker. That's how I'm "baking" my sweet potatoes today.
For really large potatoes, you can cut them in half. They won't dry out either.

This is interesting Blue. How long do you leave them cooking and do you put it on low or high heat?
Does it cook evenly or the bottoms get done more, (hard skin)?
Just making a fast home made skillet dinner, kinda like hamburger helper but much better. In a hurry since American Idol is on tonight! Also my kids worked today and they have yet to come home. This way dinner is sitting, cooked and ready for them so no one bothers me while I watch my show!
Had my taste buds going on this one Dave until you mentioned beets. uggg...nasty. lol
As picky as I am about veggies, I actually eat beets. I just find that they don't go well with things and I don't make them too much. They require lots of butter on them and salt.
I always tell people I like the unpopular veggies like spinach and beets.

One of my crockpot books had the directions in. I really didn't look it up this time. I just threw them in and poked them to check if they are done. The skins don't quite come off as easily as in the oven because they are more moist, but when you don't want to turn on a big oven for a few small items, the crockpot works.
Haven't had brussel sprouts in awhile and I love them..
Nobody loves brussels sprouts. That's what you give kids to torture them.
I haven't tasted them since I was a kid. I'm pretty sure I still wouldn't like them no matter how cute looking those mini cabbages are. Although I've heard of people roasting them, including those that don't like them, and ended up tasting better than boiled ones or however they are cooked. Supposed to have a nutty flavor roasted. I'm still not brave enough to eat them.
