Ocean Spray offers $25,000 recipe contest prize

Hoping to persuade consumers that cranberries aren't just for the holidays anymore, Ocean Spray has announced its first Ultimate Cranberry Recipe Contest.

The cooperative, headquartered on the Middleboro-Lakeville line, is seeking original recipes "from those passionate about the little, red wonderberry," a press release said.

There's a potential windfall attached: a $25,000 grand prize, just in time for holiday shopping. Home cooks can enter the contest through Aug. 23 online at www.oceanspray.com.

my most original cranberry recipe is mixing cranberry juice with sprite.
Dont think that will bring me the $$$$

Cranberries are very versatile fruit.
I de hydrate cranberries and apples. After they are crispy dry, I pound them into a powder (pulverize). Then I mix the two powders together, and add a toss of ground cinnamon. This makes good drink mix.

hhhhhhmmmm sounds good to me. What do you mix it in? Water? Vodka? LOL.......

Recipes will be judged on creativity, use of product, taste, overall appearance and ease of preparation. Preliminary judging will be held around Sept. 18.
