Have you ever put some food in your Tupperware only to find out it stained the inside of your bowl when you go to take it back out? Well here is a little hint that should help end this problem.
Mainly all foods with a tomato-based sauce are the culprit. So next time you are going to add something like this spray the whole inside of the container with a no-stick cooking spray first. It not only will help keep the food from sticking when you need to remove the food, but it will also help eliminate the stain problem as well.
Looking for a way to take the odors out of your refrigerator? Well next time you are grabbing for the baking soda that most people use for their odor problem, don't. Grab a few briquettes from your bag you use for grilling and put them in a small bowl in the back of your refrigerator.
It not only absorbs odors but it works just as good as if not better than baking soda.
Just remember to change it every 2 months for freshness.
Take a small pin and poke a tiny hole on the end of the egg that is larger before you boil eggs.
In the water add a small amount of vinegar.
By doing this it will keep your egg white from leaking. It also is great if you decide to poach your eggs. Remember to add the vinegar to the water and it will make the whites stay really great without that jelly look.
So you now know how to tell if your mystery egg is a fresh egg or an old egg in need of being thrown out..
Now you realize that you don't know if the next eggs in the refrigerator is a hard boiled egg or a raw egg?
What to do, what to do.
Quite simple again.
A fresh egg will not spin around but a boiled one will.
Just an extra hint..when spinning the fresh egg just don't drop it on the floor. Of course that is another way to find out if it is hard boiled or not...lol
Another hint to keep in your mind for that time when you do break an egg on the floor.
The easiest way to clean up a broken egg from the floor is to generously sprinkle table salt on the broken egg. The salt will solidify the egg and make it easy to clean up nice and quick.
Thinking about eggs usually leads to the quesiton which came first the chicken or the egg? Well I don't have any hints on that subject but I can tell you a great way to keep your chicken breasts moist when cooking it.
After rinsing your chicken fully cover your chicken breasts with buttermilk in a pan. You must soak them for no less than 3-4 hours in the refrigerator before cooking them. You will then find your chicken very moist.
OK, so you got distracted and burned the dinner in your best iron skillet that you thought would be so fun to cook in. Well don't get to upset thinking about the hours of hard scrubbing ahead of you to clean the mess up.
All you have to do to remove those nasty stubborn charred food pieces is boil vinegar and salt in the skillet until the food becomes soft.

Makes the place smell better than the odor of burnt food, as well.
Yes! I read one time that if you have nasty oders lingering just to put a cup with a vinegar soaked sponge or paper towel in it and let stand for a few hours. The oders will disapper. Put the cup as close to the offendive smell as possible.
If the smell is in the whole room set several cups around the room to help 'capture' the oders.
Sponges can spread germs and cause a worse mess then you think when cleaning.
Check out that sponge that is just sitting there waiting for you to pick it up and wipe off your counter...it can have on an average about 7 billion germs lingering on it!
Now that's a nasty thought. So what to do?
Just zap the wet sponge in the microwave for 1 minute at least once a day. More often depending on the usage. You can feel safer that you are not spearing the germs all over your counters as you are 'cleaning' after this great hint!
Use a baking soda paste mixture to thoroughly clean and shine your kitchen bright work. Baking soda and water has many purpose from cleaning metals, to soothing an upset stomach.
Going out to work in the garden, on your car,,, and you don't want to wear gloves?
but hate the grime you get under your nails??
Take a bar of soft soap like Ivory, and scrape your nails across it before going out, it will keep the gunk from getting under your nails,, and it will just wash off!!
Putting lotion on your hands too before working on the car will keep the grease and oil from sticking also. Avon makes a product called Silicon Glove that is great for this.
Save old pantyhose and knee hi's. use them to tie tomato plants to the stake, easier on the vines than twine.
Take a pair of old hose,, wash them first LOL,,, put your onions in one at a time,, tie it off above,, put the next one in ,, etc. Hang in the basement, garage, any dark dry place,, as you need them,, cut them off one by one Keeps them from getting bruised and lets the air circulate around them. They will last so much longer. Works for taters too! Ok, that is potatos for all you non-hillbilies out there ;o)
Take a knee hi,, fill it with potting soil. Poke seeds such as beans, cucumbers, any vine, and hang in the sun. Makes a good small space planter

Got a ton of silver to clean? Take a basin, sink, tub, fill with the hotest water you can stand to put your hands in. Line the bottom of the container with aluminum foil. Add some Calgon water softner, in the detergent isle, the add your silver,,,, instant tarnish removal!!!!!
Also,,, if you store your silver for long periods of time,, consider storing it in a vaccum seal baggie if you have one of the food storage systems. Air is the culprit for tarnish.

Thanks for bringing this forum back up again. Lots of good ideas here.
I read this advice about silver somewhere before. I think I may have even posted it somewhere on one of the forums. lol I don't remember the part about the Calgon but that makes sense. I do remember it saying something about lining your entire sink with tin foil. and the silver had to be touching the aluminum foil to work. I think it also mentioned to turn the silver after a period of time.
I really have to try this sometime. I have a very old tea set that of course is tarnished again. I like to keep it out to display it but it always looks tarnished.
If anyone has tried this trick let us know. Anything to make housework faster and easier! lol
