Klinkert's Candies Milwaukee

A few years ago I picked up an old container at a rummage sale that was from the old Klinkert's Distinctive Candies in Milwaukee. I would like to know where it was located and when. I tried to look on google and have found nothing. Anyone know about this place?

Eventually I want to sell it on ebay. I just was interested in the background for Klinkert's.

Re: Klinkert's Candies Milwaukee

I'm guessing it's old, but how old is the question. When would they have used a cardboard container like that? No idea.

I wonder who I would contact about past businesses in Milwaukee. Historical Society maybe. I'm not sure.

You know, I never thought of asking my MIL about it. She was raised in Milwaukee, but moved when she got married. She's 80 something. Then again, she might not remember that one either.

Re: Klinkert's Candies Milwaukee

O looked and didn't find anything specific to candy.. there was a mention of a Klinkert's Brewery here:

Northern Brewing at Beer Collections

There might be a connection..

There's another mention here in regards to buying Klinkert's vending machines:

Wanted! Vintage Coinop, Arcade, & Vending Machines

Could be they produced gum or candy that was also sold in vending machines.

It would be hard to date that container but I'd suspect it's 40's tho I've seen similar earlier and later.

seen those too in a search, but in reading part of the pages, it doesn't seem they deal in what Blue is talking about. I need to remember to come look at this pic when im home & it isn't blocked.

I found the brewery listed when I was looking. Could be the same family. Who knows?

Re: Klinkert's Candies Milwaukee

Re: Klinkert's Candies Milwaukee

No, I stopped looking for now. I don't know if I should post it on a site like On Milwaukee and see if anyone remembers it or I could try contacting the Milwaukee historical society.

My parents have a cup from an old drive-in in Milwaukee that I'd like to find out about also. I'm pretty sure that one has the street name on it. That one would be even more interesting since the name of the drive-in is also my mom's maiden name. Makes me wonder if it's somehow related. It's not like my mom's maiden name is common either. The cup was something that my brother found at an antique store somewhere.

Re: Klinkert's Candies Milwaukee

Very interesting. I bet that is rare since it had to be a very small brewery.

I still have my candy container since I never put it on ebay. Forgot about it.
