This is a very good article. I can see printing it out as a reminder,. Sometimes in the passion of a buy I forget to look at the obvious. I recenly bought a photo jacketed 45 rpm record but never lookat the actual record (how dumb is that?) only to find out that when I got home and looked at it, the record did not match the cover.
"you just can't judge a record by it's cover"!!!!!!!!

Them's got eyes, let them see

It'll take you home again
The hard part these days are all the repros and phantom retros out there.. the big thing is to learn all you can about the items you collect so you're not fooled when a counterfeit comes along.
I always check the bottom of things for evidence a sticker or tag has been removed (such as "Made in China" or "Dollar Tree"), some of the things being made today can be very convincing and many dealers subscribe to the "Buyer Beware" theory and figure every customer is fair game.
I was just looking at a catalog the other day and noticed a whole line of reproduction depression glasses and dishes. Looking at the pictures they really look good. Not long before that I was in a store and saw some more reproduction 'antique' looking milk ware and other items. This push for the fake 'antique' look is going to flood the market and make it harder to find the real deal in the future for many I think.
The best thing is to get a really good book on identifying antiques and always have it with you when going to Estate Sales etc.
