Is there a trick to keep this cat from doing this? And yes, she has tried different litter, keeping the litter changed, the cat is spayed, and always vet checked, no health problems etc.. The cat's favorite thing is to pee on any towels on the floor, clothes, blankets. Seems to me like she is finding things that 'smell' like her owners maybe?

One of our female cats was doing that last year. Every time my husband left his work clothes laying on the floor, she would pee on them. She was even peeing on the clean ones where we keep then on the shelves in the basement. I teased my husband about the cat not liking him and that was her way of saying "pee on you"! LOL
Seriously though, I checked with our vet and she said it might be because the cat didn't like the smell of her "dirty" litter box even though I cleaned it out every few days. She said to have two litter boxes for her so she would have a choice of going in one or the other instead of on the clothes. Also, she said to only keep about an inch of litter in the boxes and be sure to clean it out every day and totally dump all liter out every two to three months. Plus after emptying it, you should clean it with something that will take the ammonia smell out of it. The plastic litter boxes tend to hold smells and since cats have sensitive noses, they can be finicky about the smell.
Anyhow, it worked because our cat quit peeing on my husband's clothes after I did everything the vet said. Now that we have two cats, I have three litter boxes...I'm not taking any more chances here. LOL
BTW...a good spray to use to get rid of the litter box smell or any smell for that matter is "Zero Odor" spray. I ordered it on line since I couldn't find it in the stores here. It immediately takes away bad smells and doesn't leave any perfume odor behind like air fresheners do. Plus it's safe to use around animals.
