Cool Couple of good ideas for cat owners

Couple good ideas came to me while scooping today,,,, as good ideas tend to do,,,

1. Do you have a problem with the dog getting into the cat food or litter box???

good solution: Get a rather large clear/opaque plastic tote,,, ,,, hint, go borrow a new litter box like the one you have at home to "measure with" at the store,,,,,cut an access hole in one end, big enough for cat, but not for dog,,,,, btw, this only works if your cat IS smaller than said dog. Put litter box or food inside tote,,, easiest way is to put the lid on the floor,, put food/litter box on lid and cover with tote. Cat can eat, got potty and the dog will not be able to get to either. Also good for when your cat likes to toss litter EVERYWHERE.

Another thought,,, if dogs love the taste of cat food,,, why don't they make dog food with the same flavor? My labs would love it.

2. How about using a diaper genie to dispose of cat litter scoopings? I am gonna try and find one at the thrift stores myself just for this.

ok,, more thoughts to come later when I have to scoop again.

Anyone else out there with some good tips to share? Or anyone know why 2 4 month old kittens can sound like a herd of horses in the hallway at 3 am???????

Meow

I use old ice cream buckets to "store" the used litter in. When it gets full, usually about every three days, I dump the contents in the outside garbage can. To keep the bucket from smelling, I use Zero Odor spray. Since it's safe for animals, I also spray the litter boxes with it. That stuff sure works!

Two cats sure can make a lot of noise! Ours like to chase each other up and down both flights of stairs and across the bed while we're trying to sleep! They sound like a herd of elephants at times! LOL
