Today, I attended "Market Square Days" in New Holstein. It was a grand time, visiting with many of the area local folk, and vendors from around the area. There was a steam engine thrashing demonstration, with hay baling, grain threshing, and shingle cutting. Many antique cars/truck, and a classic Triumph TR6 were on display. Ice Cream, and Root Beer floats were offered as refreshments on the grounds. An authentic turn of the century tavern guards the Market Square in New Holstein. The tavern opens for business only for special occasions, with this weekend being one of them. The barkeep tries to maintain the ambiance of the old days, with gas lantern, and home brewed beer. There is also home brewed root beer on tap.
Sunday, the 15th of July, will mark the dedication of The Timm House, a proud landmark for the citizens of New Holstein. The jewel of The New Holstein Historical Society. Gather at the corner of Railroad Street and Wisconsin Avenue (1600 Wisconsin Avenue) on the lawn of the Timm House Museum for the rebirth of the "Jewel of New Holstein". Dedication ceremonies begin at 1:00pm, with a ribbon cutting, comments from dignitaries, and music. Following the ribbon cutting, the doors will be opened to the general public($10/person). Enjoy a visit to the Timm House and Pioneer Museum until 5pm. Refreshments and musical entertainment will be available on the lawn of the Timm House Museum until 5:00pm.
