I work at home and have done so for the last 13 years. We have our own business and I run the office while my husband does all the "dirty" work. We are a service business so are on call 24 hours a day.

Before that I worked as a supervisor in the parts department for a company that makes cafeteria tables. And before that, when my kids were little, I had a home daycare. That way I was able to teach them how to read, write and do math before they started school. Prior to that, I worked in a sewing factory that made lingerie and I sewed nighties for 13 years.
I don't get a wage for what I do now but by staying home, I was able to take the time to go to my son's events at school when they were during the day which I may not have been able to do if I worked for someone else. Now that he's off in college, and if I want to go somewhere, I can just forward the business phone to my cell so I am not stuck in the office all day. Technology is wonderful!
