Take a hint from Wasau, Wisconsin child care business owner Debbie Mohelnitzky, aged 51. Debbie, who owns Alphabet Soup Child Care II, knew many out of work parents were having a hard time looking for a job because they had no one to watch their kids and couldn't afford child care while out of work.

This past March 16-20, Debbie offered a free half-day of child care (for kids 4 weeks to 12 years of age) to parents actively looking for work. The only catch was those who took advantage of the offer had to later "pay it forward" by doing a favor for someone else.

Currently, Debbie is hoping to repeat her offer in the near future, offering a full day of child care at no charge so parents can schedue more job interviews and appointments.

Hello, I hope to help beat the recession and help my fellow man with my thrift store business. The way I price most of the items I find in storage units for my thrift store is I look up most of the antiques and collectibles online through sites like Etsy and Ebay. I like to look at the completed listings that match my items, NOT the asking prices but what an item actually sells for, then I price my item for sale at either a half or a third of that price. I end up getting shopped by customers that can really use a good deal or someone that buys the item from me and resells it for more. I usually just list the items for sale online through my website or Thebubbler. I do not like to ship any items so I help out the customers close to home.
