An elevator pitch (or elevator speech) is an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds and 100-150 words).

Here's my 30-second commercial (which I've spoken so often I can clearly say it in a half a minute, and can adapt and improvise for most any situation):

The only time I have been in an elevator in the last few years is in a Hosptial and most people do not strike up conversations while in the hospital. Gone are the days of business trips to Chicago and staying along Michigan Ave.

Apparently you've never had the misfortune of running into me.. I will talk anywhere, anyplace, and to anybody. Hospitals and elevators are a great place to strike up conversations because you're almost assured a captive audience, especially if they're in traction!

5. You'll have to sign a standard waiver to allow us to shoot and post, etc. I'll ask Christian to post a copy of the waiver in this thread.
6. Your 30-second commercial will be posted at YouTube.com and will be linked to from this message board.
Your 30-second commercial will be included in our website, WisOwners.com
You (or your webmaster) will be able to add your video from YouTube to your website. You can link to it from your email.
Embed your video in your LinkedIn, Facebook and other social networking pages, and/or in your blog.
A. We'll shoot these against a green screen or blue screen. We can place your logo that you provide as the background behind you in your video for only $89.
B. We can add captions with your name, your company, your phone number, web address and other contact information for another $89.
C. Get A and B, above, and we'll remove the attribution in the final frame, and for another $20 we'll burn a copy to DVD and bring it to you at the next Meetup. For a total of $198, plus tax, you'll have your own commercial!
Terms: 50% down, balance on delivery.

Good tips! I always try to start with what makes us different. Our USP is "Wisconsin's Furniture Giant" then add some clarifiers - like "an acre under one roof." Use dynamic and visual words.

The trick is to impart information quickly and descriptively without sounding "canned".. sincerity goes a long way in cementing business relationships!
