What did you do for Memorial Day weekend?

I went to Boston late last week, and just got back on Tuesday.

It was very fun, we did lots of things. My favorite parts were the aquarium and the whale watch (we saw around 30 whales total!).

We also did Salem (Witch trials and all that), freedom trail (a historic walking trail) and other things as well.

sounds like a blast, Rob. I'll just share a portion off my Memorial Day Weekend.
I enjoyed the parade, here in town...boy scouts, girl scouts, the high school, and city's marching bands. The parade took a route to the graveyard, where I visited various sites.
Then I attended the memorial service for our fallen soldiers, sailors, marines, and those air forcers. 21 gun salute...and what not all. A well practiced military drill always gets my heart racing....I don't know why.
Later, I went to the ranch and supervised stone picking operations, and also served as beverage handler. Steaks, burgers, brats, and good cheer rounded out the weekend.
So, it was good

Rob, how was Salem? Was it touristy or geared more towards history buffs?

I spent Memorial Day at an antiques auction and got a good haul. One of our cats was sick all weekend but thankfully he's fine now. Doesn't it seem that people and pets always get sick on holiday weekends when the docs aren't around?

I went to visit my parents in Escanaba, MI. They've got a boat in the marina there so we camped on the boat. Sunday morning we had a flash flood; they closed off I-2/41 and Ludington St (main drag downtown) looked like a river, white water and everything. Water up to your knees; higher in spots. Only Delta Cty had a flood warning -- so of course we got blamed for bringing the storms north with us

That evening we went to a friend's house where we had a "good old fashioned barn raising" (but it was a tent not a barn. Took all 7 seven of us to put it up!) and grill-out.

Monday morning we watched the Memorial Day memorial service from the boat. Then we went to Fayette, which is about an hour east of Escanaba. It's an old iron smelting village from the nineteenth century, and they're restoring parts of it. It was really very interesting, but the sun got to us and I think we didn't spend as much time wandering around as we maybe would have liked.
