You're right, not everyone does. But the number is growing. Even if I had a bike, it's too far to ride to and from work (esp. in the recent heat). There are a lot of places that public trans doesn't reach. Yes, everyone who can do more, should. I totally agree with that. The problem is that that by itself won't solve the problem because even if we all bought the bare minimum of gas we really only absolutely need, it's still enough for the gas companies to continue to make record profits and offers no incentive for them to lower prices.
I wonder how much longer it will be until it's cheaper for me to not have a job outside the home because I'll be paying more in gas than I'm making working. At this rate I make it to be only another year or two, if it continues to rise 50%/yr from this point on.

On this subject, I have a pet peeve about those neighbors who must mow their lawn with a big riding mower and do it every five days??????? They just HAVE to have a nice shaved lawn. Instead of letting it grow a little more, saving a little gas and not keeping up with the JONES'S....imagine how much gas we would save if they all cut back on the greed of it all? Sick. We are our own enemy. I come out by the lake for the quiet, and then I get a few neighbors who can't stay off the riding lawn mower.
Another thing that gets me thinking. Why is it that the feds are building all these park and ride places along side highways lately?

Heh. Out around vacation lakes they should require people to use the old-style manual mowers. I guarantee that would quiet things down and save TONS of gas!

$2.19 last night at Kwik-Trip on Hwy M, Pewaukee
Thought about getting the Kwik-Trip card to save 3 cents a gallon. That would be about $26.00 a year.
Down over a buck now.
Every conversation in the last 5 stations has been about how the prices will go back up after November elections...just in time for Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday traveling.
Regards,
Keith

For Brookfield/Waukesha folks, the PDQ (which is, I might add, a local chain, so your money stays in the community) at Watertown and Springdale is down to $2.19.
I doubt it has anything to do with the elections, or not much. The gas companies got scared because everyone started talking about alternative energy and actually moving in that direction. Now that the price is low, the rank and file will forget about it until the price rises again.
I hope people are brighter than that, but, frankly, I don't hold out much hope for it.
