Being a grandparent

I've got an almost 2 year old grandaughter. What a joy! I get to see her every other week or so. As soon as she see's me she grabs my finger and walks me around the yard over and over. It's cool watching her discover different things and see the development of her personality.

What's the best part? Having your fun and then when she's tired and crabby and dirty, she goes home. Cool Huh?

I've always looked forward to being a grandparent...

Very cool.

I think it will be cool to be a grandparent and to take the time to do things like you're talking about, just having and taking the time to walk around the yard and watch them discover. Taking the time to listen to them and watch them learn.

Thanks for sharing.

Regards,
Keith

pk will become famous soon enough
Being a Grandparent is like getting to 'do it all over' and remembering the mistakes you did the first time so you can try again. lol

No really I find it alot of fun because of the fact that my grandson is only 6 months younger than my youngest son. And the fact that my daughter and my grandson lived with us while she finished college and her business was established. So I had them both here and I didn't have to watch him leave and go home.....

Now they moved a couple blocks away and my grandson feels more like a 'grandson' than part of my 'kids'. This is a great thing. I finally can see him in a different aspect. Or maybe now I can tell him that if he isn't good when he is here...I can send him home! lol confusing huh? lol

I also have a beautiful 2 year old grandaughter. It's amazing when you sit and watch your grandchildren and see how time really does keep marching on.

Alot of 'grandparents' I talk to think they are getting 'old' because they are 'grandparents' now. That's not what makes me feel older. (I can't think that with my son the same age) lol

What makes me feel 'older' is the fact that my oldest child is turning 30 this summer. That is what really is the difficult part. I never stopped thinking over 35 and now I have to accept the fact that I can't be 35 if she is almost 30! lol

Grandchildren are really great though and it's an experience that I am grateful I had a change to experience. Now I have 2 more kids coming up to add more to my nest. lol But they better wait a long time before doing so.

Just a thought..I could be a great grandma and a grandma at about the same time when my grandson and son have children! lol

time marches on....

Sounds like a busy life PK. We've got our 2nd grandbaby coming in July. Very much looking forward to that. This last week I sat on the floor with my grandaughter pretending to make a cake. 10 years ago I would have told you that you were nut's to think I would ever do that. Now I can't get enough.

Being a Grandparet

Oh, the difference between Parent & Grandparent! Such mixed emotions involved in the ownership of being a grandparent. Such happiness in being able to provide things you could not as a parent. Happiness in the excitement of wondering what the new baby will look like and deeply hoping he/she will look like your child. I am about to experience the growing excitement of a grandchild this September.

Who would have guessed that this internal feeling deep within me comes from things my own son had mentioned to me thoughout his growing up years. When he was 17, he said I love kids, I want to marry and have kids. "No, No, NO, I thought...you are too young...enjoy life first, don't make it a priority"

My son is 34, and having a child for the first time! And, I am just as excited as he is!
