I am curious about your VACATIONS! Where do YOU go?

My friends in Wisconsin go South. That's pretty much why I ended up here over 20 years go, but stayed.
Since our enormous problems with hurricanes in the last couple of years, our tourism is down, for obvious reasons.
When I have time for vacation, I go to a Packer Game and visit friends and family in Wisconsin. (or to evacuate for a hurricane, that's not a REAL vacation)
Do any of you come to Florida, especially NW Florida Panhandle? (We DO HAVE the whitest sandy beaches anywhere in the States!) I am curious about any of you wonderful folks who used to vacation here, or have connections here in the Destin-Pensacola area. Have you been here since Ivan/Dennis/Katrina? How do you think our progress has been since the hurricanes?
Has it scared you away?
It would be great to hear from people who have been here before and to get an objective point of view.
We are in the middle of Spring Break right now and it's busy, but not crazy, like it used to be.
I would love to hear your stories!

I have never been on a cruise! Most of mine friends make it a regular habit down here. Usually 3-5 day cruises. (but we're closer to the boats) They keep trying to get me to go, but I am perfectly content sitting on the beach around here! And I don't have to "dress" for dinner. I love being on a boat to go deep sea fishing though!

Ill be going on another cruise in December. Nice way to spend a cold winter...sitting in the sun, swimming in the ocean, getting sunburnt...ahhhhhhh cant wait!

Hey GB!!! SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN!!!!
You WILL still get a good tan......you just won't suffer.
The more sunscreen you use, the less pain you will have when you belly up to the bar at night and show off your sunkissed skin and not your fried skin silly!!!!

A great strategy I use is to go to a tanning salon for a while before I take my yearly trip to Florida. Although it is not great for you, sunburning on Daytona Beach is a lot worse. Tanning bed manufacturers give some good advice on "taking it slow" and building up base on their website.

I voted Florida because I went to the Orlando area for school and loved it down there. Would love to go back.

However, I can pretty much go anywhere for a vacation. But, I do like warmer locations and an ocean is a big bonus.
