After being here now for about a week i have seen some strange log in names and was wondering how you all came up with them. I had my first canoe, a heavy fiberglass one. It was green and looked like a bean so it became greenbean...the bean for short. After parting with it i purchased another canoe realizing how bad i missed it which was also green...lighter and easier to move around so it was named greenbean2. Would like to hear how you all picked your names.
On a number of sites (and I have another user account here I can use for testing), I go by Lightning, which is a nickname I picked up because I carry a pretty hefty static charge some days. I made our time-punch clock smoke one time by touching a piece of metal tube about a foot from it. I've blown out entire circuits, making the fluorescent lights shatter and computer hard drives scramble like eggs, from touching the mouse connect to my computer. Of course, at the time, I was working in a newspaper and my desk was about five feet above the presses (literally. Some days I was worried the floor might give way and we'd all fall into the running press), so I was picking up the charge from that. I haven't blown anything up just by touching it since I left that job, but apparently I am visible in an entirely dark room because of the static crackling around me. My husband, a physicist by training, keeps making jokes about doing electrical experiments and using me instead of a battery. Now if I could just learn how to harness and control it, I would go buy tights and a cape and use my powers for eeeev... uh... good. Yeah, for, uh, good.
I love birds and I am intrigued by ravens. I even have a tattoo of a the "Raven Banner" on the back of my calf. I also am a redhead. This how I came up RedRaven. Now I use this nickname on all sites I browse.
Pannyanny was given to me when I was knee high to a grasshopper by my grampa. LOL, that was 50 years ago. NOW I'm showing my age. My name is Pam so it came out of that some how. My usual sign in name is Putz, but it is taken a lot on sites. That one came because I am a world class procrastinator. Years ago my mom said I would be late for my own funeral, because I would need another cup of coffee and cigarette. the cigerettes 6 years ago) My family tells me that things, parties, wedding, and such start 1/2 hour before they do so I get there on time. Someone just started to call me Putz and it stuck. Well, guess I should go, my dish water is starting to get cold, waiting for me.LOL
But I will also acknowledge Eagle Eyes. Based on my observance to nature.

WebForging ~ that's my moniker on most of the 100+ forums I've registered at. And the title of the book that is going to get printed soon!
The 'forging' part is supposed to connote a blacksmith forge ~ hence the branding iron I use for an avatar (and on the book cover) to show the shaping of the web. That's a real branding iron by the way, built by www.Prairie Art Metal.com, a metal sculptor southwest of Madison, and heated to 3,000 degrees for photography.
'Forging' is also what we do on the web when we make virtual knock-offs or our reality on the web.
Just to keep it homey, this is the one board I use my name at. One other oddball is Scouts.com where I'm 'ScoutMaster'.
Nice replies above ~ helps us get to know ya'all. Hope to see a lot more replies here; I've often been curious about Member names.
well mine I think is self explanatory....I live in apts by this near name....and is my website in here for an advertisement...
that being oak terrace apartments, I been here so long among the oak trees I feel kind like an OAKIE.....lol!
I messed up and put my real name as user instead of my screen name, and then put my screen name as my real name. So for those who where confused. My name is Joshua not Natural Causes.
I know this shook a couple of you, but it'll be ok...I should have told you sooner and I apologize.
Natural Causes was a charcter I use to play when I played D&D (yes I played...as in past tensed). I didn't ever kill anyone they always just so happen to die by a poison that made them die of (you guessed it) natural causes...silly I know but I enjoyed it.
with me also being raised up in a biker family got the nickname "Prospect" from birth. I always liked it.
I use kmfarm which is the shortened version of K and M Farms, our business. The "K" and "M" are my wife's and my initials. My wife being first naturally.

Great question!
I always wondered about some people and their screen names.
Mine is simple: Based on a Van Halen song. It's where my feet are planted most of the time, when I have time. 8)

Rudedog is actually my CB handle when im on the road and i just carry it over to the forums. this is also the name i use when writing comical articles for some sites.
Rude is a reference to the fact that i tend to call'em as i see them. some people really dont like that, they would prefer that you beat around the bush or give them a sugary opinion on things. im also very politically incorrect, i dont believe there is such a thing as politically correct, so why would i bother trying to be something i know doesnt exist. this to many people is rude.
the dog part is a reference to the biblical insult of being a dog. in biblical times if a man wasnt capable of controling his primal urges he was reffered to as a dog. so basically rudedog means " a man that cant control his urge to be rude(or politically incorrect in my case).
i also have a R rated explanation for the handle, but i'll leave that one for the truckstops.
Well seeing as though I'm not that creative with all these screen names and user names that you have to come up with for so many sites mine is just simple meaning: 2 ~> I have 2 kids and wi ~> well obviously I'm from wi. Nothing thrilling or fancy. After so many things you have to try and come up with and then you put it in several times finding out that so many other people have that name or have used it/taken it. It doesn't make any sense to even bother trying to get creative.
ToesInTheSand based on music. Cool. 8) Good capitalization on your name, too.
RudeDog ~ you do write some funny stuff. Check this one out, everybody: Marketing gone too far?
2=wi - I've got two boys, two girls, two dogs, two cats and two ferrets at home, so I could be 22222-Wisconsin! You're right about a name that you can keep in common across many online spots. That's why I'm glad I use WebForging in most places...not a drastically unusual name, but I've not run into a problem using it.
Try and make this short...While camping "up north", late fall, we seen a moose early in the morning after a light snowfall. He was in our camping area, checking us out. There was steam coming out of his snoot. I poked my head out thru the tent, looked at my friends tent, and were debating what to do, when i thought I would break the ice by blowing steam out of my nose, at the moose. I looked at my friend and said "hey, I got moose breath too". Needless to say, the large moose wasnt impressed by any of this, and he ambled off to look for other campers, with more enthusiasm.
The Godfather part is simply an affectionate moniker given over the years by family and friends who know me as the go-to person. Need advice? Require a reference to a certain industry / area? Being spot-on Italian also helps seat this epithet.
The 57 part is simply my old high school football number.
So there it is. No fancy alliteration, but it serves the purpose.
ENJOY!
Godfather57
