God

How many people actually know and feel the power of the Lord? You know I was really down and depressed about my car situation. Then a coworker made the comment that we are so blessed to have what we have while the people down south have nothing. That got me to thinking. The Lord is good and almighty. I thank the Lord for everything, good and bad. Do you?

Why would you thank God for what is bad?

Lol, Are you saying that you blame god for the negative things that happen to you, do to your own bad choices?
If something bad happens to you, it's probably from something you did to cause it. I thank god in those situations, because, for instance, if I forgot to pay my car payment, the bank calls, rather then a tow truck showing up in the middle of the night, and taking the car. Thank God I still have the car!

I'm lost, You said you thank God for negative things because it could be worse.

I asked if you were doing that because you feared things getting worse if you didnt.

Well, yes, I do think things will get worse if I don't give God the thanks and praise for keeping those things from me. But you implied that God will make them worse if I don't. No, I do not believe he will make them worse, I can do that on my own. Everyone makes mistakes. It's how we handle them that matters.

OK, you see my contention is that God does not manage the bad in my life. God is good, perfect, and holy. How can he structure bad or evil in my life. What happens bad in my life is due to evil being set free by Adam's sin and due to my choices. Jesus when questioned about the success of his life stated "I hear the father and only do what he instructs" Jesus was obedient to the voice of God. And that drove his choices.

What I'm saying is,
God does manage the good and the bad. He gives us blessings for obeying his word, and allows "tests and trials" to strengthen our faith. When I get through a "test or trial" safely, I thank God for keeping me from more then I can handle.
Also if something that I may concider bad, happens, I thank him for it, because I don't know what his reason was for allowing it. Like when the person in front of you in line at the store, is causing a delay for some reason, how am I to know that God isn't keeping me from being involved in a car accident or something?

I agree God does ALLOW tests and trial. I also agree od keeps me from evil. He says so in the scripture. I also thank god for keeping me from safe in trial. I dont thank him for the trial, it isnt from him, it is from the enemy of my soul for my destruction. I thank him for strength in the trial. But if I thank him for the trial as if he sent it then do I also thank him if I fail?

I also do not believe that God sends the trials, but rather allows them. I thank him for allowing them, because he has his reasons. I do not want to argue or try to change your beliefs, but I do thank him if I fail.
This isn't biblical, but it works here to. What doesn't kill me (spiritually) will only make me stronger. I feel it is my fault if I fail. I thank God for it, because of his grace. Knowing I will get another chance. I don't believe you can give the enemy all of the credit either (for the trials). some are just caused by our flesh, wich I suppose could also be a tool of the enemy. But generally, it sounds as though our beliefs are alot alike. There are some minor differances, but that is where the religion forum comes in.

I agree we are coming close if not splitting a hair. But I enjoy the discussion it makes me grow.

I must agree with her.

The time in my life when I felt God come into my world was when I was struggleing the most, flat out on my face, hurting and lost. That is when God carried me and I only saw one set of footprints. hehhehhe. Yeah, he does allow my loss and suffering so I can understand the true meaning of happiness when it is right in front of me. If I never felt pain, how would I know what good can be?
God gives every bird its food, but he does not throw it into its nest...meaning that bird must get out and struggle to find it. Struggle and seek is the key. God bless.

God

Ever seen that "Joy of Painting" show? Well the guy began with painting all of these blacks and dark blues everywhere. He said, "Don't be afraid of the dark colors, it accentuates the light colors.........." Then he began to paint his bright yellows, light blues, greens, and whites. The painting came alive.

In the arts, you will find that some of the greatest paintings and songs have deep contrast.

I am thankful for rough times because they make the good times seem brighter. Tragedy, death, sorrow, suffering, etc.....are inevitable to the human situation......as well as to the cycles of nature.

Here in Wisconsin, it is noted that we live it up during the summer because we have to endure such dreary weather otherwise. Does it help anything to complain during the entire winter season? No. Or is it better to embrace the winter season and its beauty and benefits? Thankfulness actually helps the individual.....and has been proven to have healing properties.

Go to www.vineyardcc.com and you will find Message Audio to listen to online. There is a message in there about finding contentment. Good stuff.
