Prices are going up!

I am sure you all have noticed that prices on everything are going up but our wages are NOT.
A couple months ago we got a new vending machine company for our lunch room. believe it or not the darn vending machines accept CREDIT CARDS!!!!!!

Can you believe it? CREDIT CARDS!!

You need credit cards for vending machines like these:

And even at Walmart, where soda used to be 25 cents a can out of the machine are now 75 cents to $1.25 a can!

I noticed that tv dinners that were 88 cents a few days ago are now $1.. pork rib tips that used to be under $2 a package are now $6 or more for the same package..

What kid can afford baseball cards or comic books these days? And magazines are $4.99 or more..

It's ridiculous!

Don't most vending machines take credit cards these days? Every Hotel i've stayed in for the past couple years have accepted credit cards in the vending machines. Most vending machines at the malls also accept credit cards. Now if you go to most laundry mats, you cant use cash anymore, same goes for many car washes I have seen. You either have to buy their card and add money to it with your credit card or use your credit card directly in the machine itself, to avoid buying their card.

I personally prefer to not use my credit card in vending machines. I tried it once at a hotel a couple years ago when i first seen one and it took a couple weeks to come out of my account! I am sure they are much more up to date now, but that left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Having worked for credit card companies in the past, I see how people can overdraw or mess up their finances when that happens.

I hate when they put a hold on your account before actually deducting the money.. I've forgotten a few times and come close to spending money I didn't have because of it.

I wish they didn't have the option to put a hold on cards. It costs people a lot of money, paying fees for overdraft.

The last time I was in an arcade in the Dells, you had to buy their card and use it to play the games! I guess they are trying to get the kids started early on the idea of using credit and debit cards!

Prices are going up on most things.. gas prices have been going down in mine..

Lots of people (including me) prefer not to carry cash except for a small amount and rarely do I have much in change. I use my debit/credit card for most everything and glad most places have the option for a card or cash. Using my card gives me a receipt and a running record of how much I spend and where the money is going. Seems as if I have a twenty and break it, it's gone really fast and I wonder what I used it on.

I hear ya there.. seems like everytime I go out, it's $20-$40 spent (when I actually have $20-$40 that is!)

I use my check card more than not for most things but I do feel better ,for some reason, when I pay in cash. It just has a good feel to it.

now if cash regiters still went caa ching caa ching

when you paid in cash, how would that change things?

Was looking at meat prices last night at Walmart.. so many cuts of meat I can't afford.

I keep cash for laundry and lottery.. most everything else I use my debit card.

John, you're giving your age away.. cash registers haven't gone "ka-ching" in ages!

oh... so they really made that sound at one time? I thought that was just a saying!

I seldom keep cash on hand either, unless I'm hitting the casino, since their ATM fees are beyond ridiculous!

Gas prices have dropped quite a bit here also... newpaper says we might just see them go below $3.00 real soon.

It's not bad enough that prices go up but quantity/quality go down! So tired of paying more and getting less!

I believe inflation is just getting started. By running so much debt, and printing money to cover it, the dollar's value goes down. I hope wages go up too, but I wouldn't count on it.

If I had any money (and I don't!) I would invest in rental properties - especially with housing prices so depressed.
