Exclamation Hackers Steal Subway's POS CC Data

I suppose having your credit card data stolen online is everyone's fear but here hackers plugged into Subway's (amongst others) POS data and stole from there.. is using a credit or debit card even safe anymore?

Stole over $3 million in fraudulent charges since 2008!

How hackers gave Subway a $3 million lesson in point-of-sale security

Re: Hackers Steal Subway's POS CC Data

Wow! that is just simply crazy! I wont use mine at the little rinky dink stores here in town anymore. I know several people (my co-worker included) who used their card at a couple of the small convenient stores here in town & had charges within a couple days for a muslim dating site online. Same site being accessed by everyone's cards, by several different stores. We later read in the paper that these stores were under investigation for fraud, by use of peoples credit cards on muslimsformarriage.com. Which happens to be the site in question with those I know who had this problem.

There are maybe 10 little convenient stores in this town, all owned by the Arabs, some related & others not. I am friends with a couple of the guys who own a couple of the stores & they tell me never to run my card as credit at any of the stores, because when ran as credit they are left with the opportunity to scam me. These guys have not been in trouble for it, but know the people who are in trouble.

Not so sure its safe to use my card anywhere anymore... sadly!

It really isn't safe sadly enough.. every time you use your card anywhere (not just online), you're at risk for theft or fraud.. debit cards are a little safer perhaps but there will always be thieves and crooks out there waiting to pounce if they have the opportunity.

Debit cards are only safer when ran as debit & not credit. unfortunately you cant always run it as a debit
