Most people have cell phones these days and most cell phones do more than just make calls. What do you like best about your cell phone? Do you find yourself using it more for other things besides calling?
I love the camera and QWERTY keyboard on mine (a Samsung T401g).. it would take a lot for me to switch to a phone without the keyboard.
I swore against having a phone with no keypad since having the HTC touch a couple yrs ago, but when I was shopping for a phone recently the one I wanted was over $200 & there was one just like it without the keypad for free with my plan... I figured I'd try the all touch & at least I'd still have 30 days to switch it out, but I realize now that the touch screens have come a LONG ways since my HTC touch days!
Right now I have the Samsung Mesmerize i500 Android (Galaxy S) smartphone. It does it all & has more memory than any pocket pc I have had! I like the Android market. Not sure it would matter what phone it's on, but the reason I decided to give it a chance on this phone was the big screen, which is great when you use it as much as I do for work & home. I like that my bank, doctor, facebook, craigslist etc.. all have free applications. I havent found anything to download that i just had to have & had a price on it... of the thousands of free application I have maybe 20 downloaded & over 50 games I have yet to play, but downloaded them because I was bored that day and the phone memory will never get full anyway... I hope lol
I just have the same old Motorola flip phone I've had for three or four years now. Nothing special about it...it doesn't have a touch screen nor a keypad but it does match my van. I thought it was cool because I could program different ringtones for whom ever calls me and the phone I had before this one couldn't do that. Now there are so many other things phones can do! I am quite a ways behind the times where electronic devices are concerned I guess.

I was just at our US Cellular dealer this afternoon and bought a Quasar Quantico phone for my husband for Christmas. It is water proof and shock proof which is useful with the type of work he does and it was on sale for $50 less than the usual price. He's had the same phone for awhile now and hasn't dropped it in the toilet recently but has dropped it on the ground a lot so now it won't turn off at all. I'm also going to get my youngest son a new phone when he comes home from college too but I will let him pick out what he wants. There also is nothing wrong with his old cell phone except the charging cord quit working and the dealer doesn't carry them anymore. I was told today that the newer cell phones are going to a universal charger. Don't know why they didn't do that before!
My ex-girlfriend's phone was attracted to soda and water.. she put it in her soda cup twice while driving and lost it while canoeing.. phones don't like when you do that.

I purchased a new cell phone on the 23rd last month. It was an LG phone with a touch screen and a slide out keypad for texting. I returned it on Monday and transferred everything back to my old cell phone. First of all, I only got a new one because everyone else got one for Christmas and I specifically picked this one because it was the only one that was red and I like red. LOL I don't text and I absolutely hated the touch screen on the new one! I kept accidentally dialing the wrong people when I was at the hospital trying to contact family members last Sunday. After calling my SIL that I absolutely hate by mistake, I decided that the new cell had to go! I am much happier now with my old one again even if it doesn't have as good of reception as the LG one!
I had a touch screen one time and I hated it. I got rid of it and loved the regular phone I have now. I do like the LG but this one has a flip, nice keys (not tiny!) as I do text alot, and a good camera. That's all I care about.
I'm with you regarding phones and touch screens.. I don't mind having a touch AND physical keys.. but most screens are not bright enough during daylight to use a touch screen plus I like the tactile feedback you get with actual keys.
It's not that I'm a "technophobe".. I just don't find the current crop of touchscreens convenient to use.
I love the QWERTY keyboard of my Samsung T401G for texting, which I do more than actual calling.
Why text? Spoken words can be forgotten, the written word is there to refer back to..
I also use the camera on my phone to remind myself of things I've seen while I'm out at flea markets, etc.
