Well I saw the title and wondered, What could be worse than furniture with plasitc covers?? Now thanks to the bubbler (and Dave) I know!

One of my old GF's parents used to slip cover everything.. I was afraid to sit on anything!

Reminds me of the t.v. show Everyone Loves Raymond. His Mom always used them until one show everyone rebelled and tore it off the couch to sit on it. lol Too funny.

They were old school Italian.. if you could hover an inch above the furniture, they would have preferred that.

I'm so glad my Mom never had the plastic covers but I do remember she would sew new cloth covers for the cushions and redo the colors from time to time on our chairs.

Actually, I can see protecting your furniture but I also like to be able to use it as intended.. I doubt I'd buy a couch, then cover it in such a way it couldn't be enjoyed. I HAVE put a slipcover on a thread bare sofa to cover the damage.
