How Will You Celebrate or Observe Easter?

For those of you who observe Easter, what will you do to celebrate or observe Easter this year?

My neighbor has a whole Easter ritual she follows every year.. she always observes her holidays as her family did over the years. Apparently it involves coconut creme pie which is ok by me

Anyone make and decorate their own Easter candy and baskets?

Re: How Will You Celebrate or Observe Easter?

We are celebrating Easter on Saturday here since that works best for most of my family. There are some that have to work both days so they can't make it, but otherwise there will still be around 24 people here.

I am making turkey with all the trimmings for dinner. No pies this time though. Instead, I am making a chocolate cake with pink frosting and will decorate it with sprinkles and a chocolate bunny in the middle and maybe throw some jelly beans on it too. It's tradition that we celebrate all the birthdays within two months of Easter and there are about eight of them this year I think.

After dinner, while the guys are sleeping off their turkey induced comas, we will have an Easter egg hunt outside for the four little ones who will be here. I use plastic eggs and fill them with candy and money and have the teenagers hide them. That way they are also involved in the festivities and can direct the little ones in the right direction to find them.

Re: How Will You Celebrate or Observe Easter?

We will be in Naples over Easter, so it will be a little different for us. We found a church to attend that morning, which is essential for us as the whole reason for "Easter" (which is what people now call the celebration of Christ's resurrection, even though it is actually referring to a non-christian spring celebration) is celebrating the new covenant in Christ's resurrection.

But, we are also doing a big Easter egg hunt that my uncle is providing. Since he's stinkin' rich, we are hoping for golden eggs with 100 dollar bills in them, and maybe one with keys to a new vehicle or something. But, they will likely be filled with candy, etc - which is just fine!

Normally we would have a small "hunt" for our kids, then church, then dinner with my in-laws, which I actually enjoy. We had our Easter dinner last night instead.

I hope everyone who has even an understanding of who Christ is will take the time to at least reflect on what life would be like without his blood being spilled for the washing away of our sins iin order to guarantee a place in heaven for all who follow Him...

I just need the egg with good luck inside. I think so far I've gotten the ones filled with crap! Of course, I'll take a new car or cash. I could use both.

Re: How Will You Celebrate or Observe Easter?

We are doing the usual, well, sort of! My family no longer gets together for Easter now that we kids are adults. My immediate family is small, not including the dozens of cousins. (Good name for a band? Dozens of Cousins.) Getting together with hubby's family to eat. I'm not going to get into how they forgot about him at Thanksgiving, but are making a big deal about going to where his dad is staying for the time being. Oh, I just brought it up again. LOL Who can blame me?

I have to bring a dessert and not sure what to bring because I have hundreds of recipes to try. Bars, cake or torte? Lemon, pumpkin, chocolate, peanut butter, caramel, apple...I just can't decide.
