Seal Plastic Bags With Old Bottle Caps.

Cut up a disposable water bottle and keep the neck and top.

Zip-top bags are great, but sometimes you buy something in bulk and you're stuck with an unsealable bag. Home-centric blog Re-Nest shows us an easy way to give these bags an airtight seal with an old water bottle.
All you need to do is cut off the top of the bottle and take off the cap. Push the bag through the bottle neck, fold it over the edges, and twist the cap back on. Now, your bag has an air and water tight seal, and you didn't have to waste the bag.

Re: Seal Plastic Bags With Old Bottle Caps.

For some reason I could not get the actual photo of what this looks like to work. But the concept was really interesting. You place the top of the water bottle with the bag tucked in with the top of the bottle out. You can then open the top of the bottle and pour the contents out and then put the cap back on again without opening the bag. Interesting idea.

Re: Seal Plastic Bags With Old Bottle Caps.

Don't chip clips work for sealing a bag? I have a lot in different sizes.

Re: Seal Plastic Bags With Old Bottle Caps.

Chip Clips are great and I use them all the time. But the difference apparently is the bottle caps with the bag tucked inside is suppose to be more air tight.

Re: Seal Plastic Bags With Old Bottle Caps.

I'll stick with chip clips. I have the kind that clamp on and these other kind that open like a V and then clip together at the opening of the V. Think of how a hair barrette works, that's the say idea only bigger. Those work great for bread bags and other less stiff bags that you can twist than put the clip on. Pretty air tight if you ask me.

Having to find a saw and then mess with cutting the bottle up. Too much bother for me and I would cut myself on the plastic.

Re: Seal Plastic Bags With Old Bottle Caps.

Here's the other kind of clip I'm talking about. I have different sizes. These work good when you can twist the top of the bag to close then use this to hold it shut.

This is a great posting. I know I will be using this trick.
The video was good also.
